Patch 1.6 and remapping controls

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:40 pm

Since the 1.6 patch was installed, my custom controls (using an Xbox 360 gamepad on PC) were reverted back to the normal configuration. This is fine, except that now when I try to revert them back, it not only changes my controls during gameplay to my custom configuration but while operating menus as well. For example, I tend to set Y to my character menu button; but now when that menu (or any menu) pops up, Y also acts as the "B" button, if you will—the button I must use to back out of menus.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks for your time!

Have you set a key for ready/sheath? And how are you connecting and using the pad? Direclty through the game or are you using control software like wingman or joy2key?

Yes; "B". Activate is "X", and Jump is "A".

I find the controller more intuitive. Plus, the keyboard and mouse isn't capable of anolog movement—you can either run or walk. This pulls me out of the game.

Well, I have all of the Microsoft drivers and such, including that little diagnostic program from Microsoft. Aside from that, I'm not using any sort of software. I also just discovered I had Xpadder running. I have disabled it, with no change. Should I uninstall it completely?

Xpadder? Yeah I would remove that and any other key binder programs just to be sure. Then try removing and re-attaching the pad to the PC to redetect it. You should also check it in the control panel>devices>calibration page just to be sure its not the controller at fault.

Did all of that, still not experiencing any difference. Remapped controls still apply to menus. Is there a file somewhere I can alter?

I suppose I should add that this isn't the first time this has happened; as I recall, it happened with the first patch, and when I sought a fix for the problem, I found someone who had made some modifications to some text file, which fixed the issues I was having.
