My googlefu is failing me. I can't find any tutorials on starting a new world from scratch. Help?

Great list, bookmarked it, but the only world creation tutorial (in English) doesn't show the very first steps - how to actually start a fresh world with no features, just land or water.

Sorry to double post but...

The last step isn't working. Oscape isn't showing any .esm or .esp in the list. I've tried moving the files to various folders, running as admin, running both 32 and 64 bit, nothing will make the mod files (or even skyrim.esm) show up in oscape. Anyone have success using this program since the last Skyrim patch?

I use windows 7, works fine. Vista, no idea, maybe oscape struggles with vista if thats the case.

Yeah definitely seems that way, all the reports of problems with Oscape not detecting any esp/esm files sem to be with Vista. I've tried it on 2 computers now a vista 64 desktop and a Vista 32 laptop same result.

Yep, Vista here. I also tried loading the esm/esp in creation kit without doing the oscape step and it hangs during loading.

I managed to open a ticket on the Oscape github page, hopefully Ethatron will be nice enough to look into it. If not, well, guess it's time to get 7.

Is there no alternative program to process a new worldspace so the creation kit can use it?

Did you wait several minutes? The CK likes to 'Freeze' when it loads, but it's really still going. Give it like 3-5 minutes and see if it pops up then.

Waited much longer than that

It loads skyrim.esm then about 3% of my new world, then hangs. Been about 10 minutes so far without the percentage moving. It's using about 30% of my 2500k and disk is getting hammered for over 120mb/s, so maybe I just need to wait a very long time.

edit: Nope, it was really hung. Dangit.

IDK, but often VISTA wants things to be run in Administartor Mode ... Have you tried that?

Allegedly everyone with this problem has run in admin mode. I'm not sure it'd make a difference, I don't know if turning off UAC entirely helps, or moving the files outside the program folder or something. I'm no expert in Vista except being experienced in bashing it. As I think it's not normal that a program just can't read files (worst, detect the existance of files), I'd say a Vista profi can find out more than me.

Both Skyrim and Oscape are on a secondary drive nowhere near the program files folders.

Is there a debug or logging mode I could run?

Bump cause I started a new thread to ask a specific question, but it vanished, so I can only assume the mods wanted me to keep it confined to this thread. Here's the question: How do you actually bring tesannwyn.esp into the creation kit?

I started CK and added skyrim.esm and tesannwyn.esp, and there were no new entries in the worldscapes menu. Is there a specific step I need to take to get the CK to recognize the new empty landmass I created?
