Am I Doing it Wrong, or is the Favorites System STILL Broken

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 6:23 pm

The favorite system for quick selecting weapons etc., it was very useful in Oblivion. But when I first got Skyrim, there was a bug that broke it if you tried to use any key binding other than the default one. We're now at patch 1.6, and I expected that they would have fixed it by now, but I cant get it to work.

I have 'C' set to favorites in the controls menu, but when I'm in the inventory it says 'Favorite: F'. Neither C nor F work. If I press F, it just selects or deselects the item, and if I press C, it zooms in on teh item (lets me view and rotate it).

Please tell me I'm doing something wrong and that Bethesda haven't just not bothered to fix this long standing issue. I end up playing the whole game with just one weapon, because it's so tedious trying to switch using the terrible console centric inventory menu.

Maybe you set C to open the favorites menu instead of setting favorites by mistake? Just a wild guess, apologies in advance if that's not the case.

Yes, I thought of that, but pressing C in the game does not open a favorites menu.

See this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHtmILlxQ4Y#t=1m35s

He goes into his inventory, highlights the thing he wants to favorite and presses F. When he does taht, it puts a little dot by the thing, and a favorites tab appears. When I press F, the thing is just selected as if I had mouse clicked on it. And if I press C, which is the key I've bound to 'favorite' in the controls menu, it doesn't work either.

Pretty sure they havent fixed the issue that has been there from launch:

I have the same problem, and the only work around for me was to reset my controls to defaults, and then go to magic/inventory and hit "F" on everything I wanted added to favorites. Then go re-do all my custom controls, and hitting "Q" (my in-game favorites key) would bring up the menu. You can also press 1, 2, 3, etc to assign individual favorites to a hotkey.

Less than ideal, as you have re-bind all controls if you ever want to add something to favorites again, but at least it's a work around for now.
