Problem Adding Racial Abilities to Custom Races

I did a quick search, and couldn't find a topic on this, so I'm making a thread.

I'm trying to add racial abilities to a custom race, in this case to a Playable Dremora race that I'm working on. It's built right from the stock Dremora race, with a few changes. My problem is that for whatever reason, I'm unable to save any racial abilities I assign to this race. I can change racial abilities on existing races, as well as create races from the existing stock races and have them save, and I can actually add racial abilities to the Dremora race I'm working on, but after clicking OK, none of the changes are saved.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there some silly toggle somewhere that I've missed? Do I have to add the race to some list or something? Any help would be appreciated.

I have also run into this issue also trying to make a playable dremora race. I created the specials that I wanted and tried as you did to place them into the "specials" section to no avail. As an attempted workaround, I tried placing the special abilities under the spells on the presets I created, but that did not work.

While I expect that I could add the abilities in game with the console, that doesn't address the issue of having a properly working plug-in. If someone has found out how to accomplish adding specials to a custom race, then I would also like to know what the answer is. :read:

Hello there BretonSpellsword, long time no see. :cool:

As for the problem at hand..I don't know, never tried it. But from what I can tell, custom anything doesn't seem to work right in one way or another.

I just tried another workaround idea which did not work. Does anyone know how to add a, preferably simple, script which could add the spell (special abilities) to the player if they selected that race during the character gen portion of the game or perhaps some workaround that could solve this?

Got it. The specials need to be added before creating the new object id. I have created a playable dremora plug-in and it is now available at the Steam Workshop.
