PreviewListen to MusicAudio in Creation Kit?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 1:22 am

Hi there,

I was wondering How do I preview the sounds/music in the creation kit? i've look everywhere and cannot find it. I went and spent 3 hours trying to find info on it, but I cant even find any information on it on the web. Is there someway to preview the enviroment sounds so I know what they sound like before putting it into the house I'm making for myself?

Yeah no kidding. It's weird. It's pretty apperant to me this isn't the software the developers used to create the game world with. I also noticed alot of bugs like objects dissapearing from my house I'm working on and walls dissapearing. I don't know I'm sure it's just me or maybe I'm doing something wrong I don't know. But right now I can't do anything with my project here until someone can help us with these things.

I don't think listening to sounds from the CK is possible. Don't think it was with the GECK either.

You could always unpack the sound.bsa file and listen to it outside of the CK with a player of your choice though. Easy enough. I'm sure Bethesda was unable to include that option in the modder version as it was most likely a licensed 3rd party program.

In regards to your missing pieces, is this in game or in the CK?

If it's in the game, save, quit and reload. Things should be fine.

If it's in the CK, hit f5 to render the scene again.

If it's neither, yer doin it wrong. ;]

Within the Audio section, you'll see a category called "Sound Descriptor" which, as far as I can tell, are the actual sound objects applied to activators, events etc. If you open one of those, the third field (under Descriptor Type) is a label called "Auditioning"... there's "Play" and "Stop" buttons under that which will play and stop the sound.

Unless I've misunderstood the OP's question, in which case, my apologies...

You assume that they used the CK for everything. They would certainly do sound design solely in third party programs, so why need to listen to it in the CK if you design, test, and do everything to actual implementation elsewhere?

Also it takes a lot to render out weather, so that probably wasn't included because it was too taxing or they simply didn't need it.
