Introducing Haldir of LotR into Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:04 am

So I did an Aragorn with the help of ze kind forummers here, and whatnot that youtube video which created his look-alike without mods (yes I'm on a PS3). I had much fun with him, especially with his Nightingale armor and silver moonstone circlet/Dark brotherhood hood, it felt very Aragon-ish to me.

So I'm gonna give him his much-needed break after leaving him on a ship departing to assist in the battle of Minas Tirith, I thought of starting a Haldir of Lorien, sent back after his 'death' during Helms Deep (Peter Jackson style) or continued his legacy after accompanying the Fellowship into Lothorien (Tolkien style).

As we all know he's skilled in arts of archery and swordmanship, possibly light armor too (Elven armor look closest to what he wore in Two Towers). But I would like to listen to your inputs once again and create a Haldir based on the wisdom I gather here.

What I have for now:

Wood Elf

Archery
Two-Handed
Light Armor
Sneak (since he ambushed the fellowship stealthily)
Speech

If you chose Two-Handed because the Elves often hold their sword with both hands, I'd stick to One-Handed. Because after all, it is a One-Handed blade anyway (much like Aragorn and Boromir's swords) except the hilts are extended by 1/2 to allow room for another hand if wished.
Plus Two-Handed swords in Skyrim are too big and clunky for LOTR Elf types. One-Handed is quick and agile.
And the blocking with a One-Handed blade is cool, something I associate with LOTR Elf style.

A shame that thare are no cool looking Elven Swords around.
I really liked the slender and graceful looking daggers and shortswords in Oblivion.
They were awesome.

The Ebony Swords look cool and resemble in the mesh, a bleached texture would look great.

But if you need help making a Haldir character, and if I should take some from both the movies and the books, I'd say you need:

Be a Bosmer
One handed (Well, I believe that a katana looks the most like the traditional slim Elven blade, you might use an Elven dagger instead)
Archery
Sneak
Light Armour (Elven or maybe Leather?)
Illusion (The Wood Elves of The Hobbit had their camps fully lighted up with music and song, only to suddenly disappear as soon as the Dwarves came close)
Smithing (To keep your Elven/Leather gear useable lategame should you need that)

I haven't seen the films, but going off the little bit of info in the book I would say:
Archery
Sneak
1-H (dagger)
Illusion
Enchanting
Speech
No armor

Maybe add Alteration if you wanted.
