How taxing is 'Is Full LOD'?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 7:54 am

So I'm having some issues with LOD in my custom land, and it would be fixed if I marked a few items as 'Is Full LOD'. But, I wonder, how taxing is this performance-wise? It wouldn't be too many things. There are 3 or 4 objects in one city that I'd like to do, and then IF it's not too taxing, all the city walls, which is about 20-25 things.

Would this just be a horrible idea that I should avoid? Could I go ahead and do the 3-4 objects, could I do all 25?

Thanks for any input,

Depends on the computer some PCs can handle more than others.

Well obviously. But would it just be a really bad thing that only good computers could handle, or should I be able to do it without causing too much trouble? (Except for maybe the lowest end computers)

Good idea.

I tried it and I get like 60fps in my land no matter what, so it wasn't super conclusive. Regardless, I'm not going to do everything, just the 3 or 4 small buildings that I need. It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever.

Thanks guys.

The in-game one is removed from our executable, you'll need to use an external program such as FRAPS.
