Lying in Skyrim

Does anyone know if Lies have a chance to succeed or fail based upon the players speech skill?

Or is it purely scripted/auto-success?

Don't know...you would have to find the specific instance where it occurs, and pull up the dialog view, and check the conditions. If it can fail, there will be two different replies for the NPC, one if you succeed and one if you fail.

Anything marked "(persuade)" is theoretically based around speech skill, but some things may be guaranteed fail or guaranteed success.

Better to say that if the script - or more likely script fragment - attached to a piece of dialogue has "DialogueFavorGeneric.Persuade" in it, then it is a Persuade line

(and "DialogueFavorGeneric.Bribe" for bribes)
