How to delay Proving Honor (Companions quest)

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:20 am

Hi all,

I would like some help delaying the Companions quest, Proving Honor until after the PC has completed 5 radiant quests. I thought I had successfully added a conditional to the dialog that would allow this to happen however the quest fired anyway.

Does anyone have an suggestions for v2?

Thanks!

In quest C00, look at the properties for companionshousekeepingscript and edit the value for RadiantQuestsUntilC01.

There are easier quests to amend than the Companions Series!

In Quest C00 you will find a CompanionsHouseKeepingQuest ... It is very long, very messy and very involved ...

My favourite comment in it, from the dev responsible, is:

; lord, so much duplicated code here... this grew "organically" and is now hideous.
; do not look here for examples of good tidy code.

And there are some other great one liners in there too.

Anyway, you will need to leaf through and understand how this Housekeeping script progresses both Radiant and Story Quests ... The Radiant Quests are tied to particular levels of the Story Quests (so C00 has so many radiant quests tied to it, and so does C01 and so on) - This is handled in the housekeeping script.

; check to see if it's time to start the next story quest

^^^ That's Line 1003. Check out the if statements below it.

So, the first thing I would TRY is to (close the script) - Amend the Property on the Housekeeping script called RadiantQuestsUntilC01 to be 5 (it is, by default, 1) and see what happens.

(Note that you can change that number for any of the stages

That might just work for you ... but going by the first comment I highlighted, I am not sure!

If it does not work you will have to trace what happens - maybe in dialogue - if more and more Radiant Quests are added (but I think just amending the number may well work)

(You may need to undo any other changes you have made to the Companions Quests)

Best of luck! ;)
