How to make an explosion?

Total noob question: How do I make an explosion happen at a certain location?

I tried playing with catapult explosions, which is the effect I want, but a) they dont seem to harm anybody and B) I dont want to attach to a projectile... I'm trying to make something more like a satchel charge or dynamite... drop, run, boom!

I'm thinking to get the satchel to cast a spell at itself, but I'm very confused as to WHERE to define my explosion for it anyways as they seem to be defined in several places (spell, effect, projectiles, etc). I heard some explosions are visual only and other actually hurt and enrage victims... veryt confused. What I'm looking for: heavy AOE damage, no magic resist, large radius (600+ units), havok push away effect. I can manage the damage and pushaway via scripting easily enough, but have no clue how to make the fx appear, and frankly if they already have an explosion class it makes more sense to just use that right???

I'm the author of Fishing In Skyrim ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16139 ) so I think you guys know where this is headed =)

Trigger a fireball blast and maybe the unrelenting force effect outward.

You could even create a spell called detonate satchel or something that triggers the satchel charge explosion spell.

OK I finally figured it out, I needed to assign an area and magnitude under the spell window. Now its working. Thanks.
