Alright, I've never really delved into magic that much so I have no clue where to look. I'm sure you can find some at the College.. but I really don't want to join with this char. just to be able to get a couple spells..

I'm of course talking about spells that are PAST Apprentice level. Right now I have "Fast Healing" but I've found/heard of "Close Wounds".. where can I find it/other higher LVL spells?

To find higher level spells you must have higher level skills.

The court wizards sell up to adept level -- I know Farengar sells Destruction, Wylandriah sells Alteration, and Sybile Stentor sells Illusion, and I believe Calcelmo sells Conjuration. I think Madena may sell Restoration, though you can get tomes for all adept Restoration spells by doing Alessandra's quest in Riften with a skill of 40 or above.

If you want higher than that, you'll have to join the College, or look in random loot, though you will never find master-level tomes.

College of Winterhold is the best place to go for magic since it's got all the best vendors for tomes in the same place. Like thatonedragonborn said, as your skill increases, you get access to higher level tomes.
