Floor Tiles Won't Align

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 9:05 am

I am building a small area after having watched the excellent 10 part modding tutorial.

When I use the Nordic small room kit, the parts snap together as the turorial showed. However, I am trying to do some work with the WRdunint parts kit, which was used in the Jorrvasker basemant. Current issues and frustrations:
  • even with movement and angle grids turned on, the parts don't snap together
  • shift Q is supposed to align parts - doesn't work for me
  • when I place parts together by eye, I get the inevitable overlap and see the in-game result as flickering edges
  • there are no "mid floor' pieces in the WRdunint kit - not a ploblem in most places because the arched walls come with a built-in floor, but when I added in a similar stone floor from a different kit for those places where there was no floor, the flicker was really bad in-game
Am I just experiencing beginner's issues, or am I missing the obvious?

thanks.

Looking at the Jorrvaskr basemant it seems that Bethesda used WRIntCHFloorStoneMid01 for the floor. As for the snapping, try lowering the snap to grid to 8 or 16. (Right click in the render window -> Render Window Properties -> Movement.)

Edit: 4 seems to be the best snap to grid number.

Thanks so much - I'll give that a try. I had been keeping the grid at 64 because the demo suggested a big number. Your advice makes better sense in retrospect.
