You didn't mess with the DialogueFollower quest, did you?
Also, if this is a custom follower, you will need to add a topic to DialogueFollower that has the command akSpeaker.OpenInventory()

If this is a custom follower just go into the quest DialogueFollower and go into Dialogue. Then take each branch and copy an info from it. Then just replace the text and voice file with one appropriate to your NPC, and make sure to change the conditions on the topic info such that it points to your NPC. Presto!

I still don't fully understand its all a little confusing is there any chance someone can help me find a video that will allow me to enter the follower dialogue I need for my follower? All I want him to do is be able to trade with me and do things like a basic follower then he will be perfect.I have looked at like 3 different follower creation videos and none explain how to enter the dialogue.

Look up DialogeFollower. It's a quest. Just type 'DialogueFollower' into the Object window. Once you are editing it, navigate to dialogue. Then click on the particular dialogue you want.

It is to do with Voices (and Voice Types)

there is a good chance that the Voice Type you have picked for your follower does not say all of the Follower Dialogue lines (it is pretty restrictive).

If you have picked something basic - like Male Nord - Then you should be OK, but many of the others do not have the full set of responses. To test, change the voice to the same one that Lydia uses (or one of the other stock Followers) and see if that fixes the problem
