How to get a .OBJ into the CK

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:08 am

So I've figured out how to convert a .dae file into a .OBJ using Blender. Then what I'm doing is trying to take a static from the game and replace its NiTriShape data by selecting it and then importing my .OBJ in NifSkope. This renders perfectly fine in Skope, but for the life of me I can't get it to display in the CK.

Does anyone know of a good way to get a .OBJ into the game?

P.S I've tried converting the object as well as the original .dae to a .nif in Blender, but for whatever reason every time I try lately (it did work once) it crashes my Blender. I have a feeling these two problems are really one.

Umm....Im not expert at the CK...but from the past games, the CK would only except .nif files, not obj.

You need to use a bit of NifSkope alchemy to get a .nif in a format Skyrim can read. Someone has a tutorial around somewhere (sorry I can't be more help than that XD)

I figured out the alchemy of which you speak. I needed to remove the material properties that blender gives the .OBJ by default in NifSkope.

Now I have to do a whole LOT of renaming.

Hey, does anyone know how to get the textures to match up to the right NiTriShapes in NifSkope? I guess I could just do it in the CK, but that would be really time consuming to do it each instance of the object.
