Is This Mod Lore Friendly?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:13 pm

It's an alternate start mod. Read it for yourself. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=73763795&searchtext=

I want to know if it is lore friendly and works well with the story.

Although I can't speak for that mod having never used it, have you checked out http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=75889890&searchtext=?

Live Another Life is lore friendly and has a staggering amount of options that you can choose to tailor your character how you want it.

+1 for Live Another Life. In fact, I think its more lore-friendly than the vanilla introduction :)

Assuming you have started in the cell and then interacted with the statue to choose your life you then walk up the path to Helgen from Riverwood and you will find a burnt corpse on the road along the way, interact with said corpse and you will receive a journal, read that journal and then check your quest log for further instruction.

Completely lore friendly. I play it myself. It just changes the beginning, as described on the steam page and the skills are re-balanced, Morrowind and Oblivion-like. You'll have to start from the beginning though; it won't work if you use a save you did just after creating your character in the vanilla game.

And this mod still allows you to play the main quest in normal conditions.

I suppose it isn't too far fetched that a horse survived the onslaught of burning rocks and that Alduin decided to not waste his time on something as irrelevant as a mere horse. Or that the prisoner carts had storage for their confiscated items. And the class system introduced, along with the starter items, add a nice touch.

You don't need to use the horse; I don't because it makes the character to use fast travel and I don't fast travel. As for the chest, it's not that weird that it contains your belongings, is it?

The idea behind this beginning is to give you a past, meaning that you already have some experience as... whatever the background you chose for your character. Something that is missing from all TES games in my opinion and all rpg alike. You might find that your character is a big strong at first but things will re-balanced themselves fast enough and it won't be long before you find an opponent that gives you hash times.

Anyway, you should try it and make an idea for yourself.
