CreationKit launching freezecrash

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:14 pm

Hi there,

well, I hope I can explain my problem properly because English is not my mother tongue. Sorry in advance for grammatical mistakes.

Three days ago, the CreationKit worked very well and out of a sudden (without having changed anything) I'm not able to get it launched. It starts and after a couple of seconds it freezes while initializing archives. The window fades out and when I click on it, a Windows message appears and tells me that "a problem prevented the proper execution of the program". The only thing I can do then is closing the CreationKit.

I tried reinstalling it, checked the tool-files, defragged the cache, set bUseVersionControl=0 in the SkyrimEditor.ini, tried to remove/replace .dll files, did a repair on CK and Skyrim, ran the program as admin - but the problem persists.
I also moved all CK files to desktop but after starting the program it freezed while initializing windows. :stare:

I don't use ENB, my graphics card driver is up to date and I don't know what to do...
Please can you help me?

Hmmm. You completely deleted it off your system and re-downloaded it? That would do the trick if you hadn't changed anything...

Have you done those things to Skyrim itself? Maybe something in the base game that the CK needs broke somehow. Try validating Skyrim, and completely deleting and re-downloading the CK.

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, deinstalled and reinstalled it several times.

I didn't change anything. One day it worked fine, the other day it didn't work anymore.

Did this but the problem persists.

Did you include the SkyrimEditor*.ini files while deleting/uninstalling the CK? If not, try removing them from your game directory.

I tried this and re-installed it but it didn't help.

"Funny" thing is... I installed the CK on my notebook (haven't been installed there, also no Skyrim on my notebook) and it also doesn't work. I've got Vista on my notebook and Win 7 on my pc.

So I come to the conclusion that this problem has obviously nothing to do with my pc. As I said before: one day it worked, the other day it didn't work without having changed anything on Skyrim or my pc. So what else is there I can blame this on? I'm gonna live with this problem but I am not amused.
