Are there any in-depth tutorials that explains how to create

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:03 pm

Bethesda's official tutorials only teaches you how to place them in a dungeon, but my level mod requires creating custom NPCs with their own outfits, loot lists, leveled lists, etc. I also have to adjust their spells and perks too. Are there any tutorials that teaches me how to do so in great depth??

There is unlikely to be any tutorial, but simply going through the tabs of the NPC editing window is self explanatory.

There will rarely be tutorials on every specific thing, so you need to combined concepts to achieve a lot of things in modding.

I feel that those of us on this forum should go through the wiki and start adding in our experiences as we have them. There is a wealth of information between us that each new modder has to go through and rediscover and reinvent the wheel.

I don't have much experience with NPC editing so I can't add anything to the wiki. Honestly though, I was expecting the wiki to be complete since the devs have been using their variant of the CK for a while.

Yeah the wiki is surprisingly sparse. But hey, you can't blame them. It would be tough for like 5 coders to make a 2000 page wiki and fully fill in all the details, in only a few months, while still having the rest of their job to do.

With the general attitude towards the wiki, it is no suprise that its growth is slowed down. On the other hand, its usefulness I feel is directly proportionate to the usefulness of the CK, which unfortunately, has a lot of useless/broken features. There isn't much to add if it does not work to begin with.
