Highest Quality DDS File?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:14 pm

I'm having some serious quality loss when saving DXT files in photoshop, is there any way to keep the quality at the maximum when resaving the DDS file?
Any settings to use to preserve the best quality? It's a texture that's used for a lot of things so the quality needs to be at the maximum, I just made some changes
to the oriiginal image for variation, but it just wont look the same no matter what I do. Anyone can help?

I use PS for all my textures and have never had a problem.
What changes are you making exactly?
Are you saving it in the right DXT format? (DXT1 for no alpha, DXT5 for alpha channel)
Some pics of your quality loss would help..

I'm just adding one part to another. It doesn't look any different in Photoshop, but when I load it in NifSkope I can see the quality loss difference. The color becomes a little less bright, and some parts that were distinctly defined look grainy. It's not dramatic if you look at it casually, but since I'm always looking at the textures I can see it pretty clearly. I'll try to get a photo soon when I have a little more time.
