Renaming Crafted Potions and Poisons

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 9:21 am

I have exhausted 3 hrs of my life, searching for a mod that allows you to rename crafted alchemy potions, like enchanting gear.

I exhausted another 2 hrs trying to figure out what and where is the script and or function that allows this to happen, with the Enchanting table and add that to the Alchemy Labs. I see nothing in the CK that allows this.

Is there a script that I can add to the Alch Lab to achieve this?

renaming weapons/armor from enchanting, i believe is built into the Scaleform UI. pretty much anything that involves a UI is done in scaleform

you would probably need to open the FLA files if you can get them, into Flash and use actionscript to change the behavior.

Thank you so much, for the reply AD. Your opinion and advice is greatly valued, i can assure you. However, this is obviously going to be way out of my league. I am too old to pick up on most of this. I was hoping it was a feature I could just copy to the Alchemy Lab from the Enchanting Table in the CK.

I don't get why they opted this feature out. When playing a heavy and almost pure Alchemist, you really need a way to rename these things when you are carrying around 100+ different potions and poisons.

If you are just finding it difficult to locate the potion you want from your inventory due to the rather haphazard naming scheme the game uses you may want to check out some mods that provide better item sorting. For example, go to Skyrim Nexus and search for the following (I can't post links yet):

Valdacils Item Sorting - Should be the only item in the search results.
Better Sorting - look at the last item on the last page of results.

These mods appear to both perform essentially the same job (renaming things so they sort better) but follow slightly different sorting philosophies. So you may want to read the descriptions of each to see if one of them meets your needs. Note that I have not tried either of these myself yet (too busy playing with the creation kit to actually play the game ) so I can't personally vouch for them but they look pretty interesting based on their descriptions.
