Urgent - Skyrim Mod Issue

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:00 am

I am not sure if this is a problem in Skyrim or something i have done within the Creation Kit, I have been working on a House mod for a fair bit of time now, and recently everything was going fine until one random time i loaded up skyrim to test something out and it seemed like the mod wasn't installed at all, none of the outside things i put down are there, none of the scripts are working, the interior of the house is there but none of the scripts work there either, no errors come up with i launch skyrim and the usual ones come up with the creation kit but thats all.

I re-traced my steps and undid what i done to where it last worked fine and it still has the same outcome...

Any Ideas?

Sounds like your scripts could be missing... did you check if you can edit them either in the CK or external? Are they hooked up?

Personally, I keep a "Test" skyrim directory and a "Dev" directory. When I'm working on my mod, the Dev folder is my active directory. When I'm done working on my mod, I rename the folders and make my Test the active version, then copy the ESP and BSA to test them. (I also have a thrid "play" folder too.) This makes it easy for me to keep everything clean. If you don't have this, I would recommend making a new "test" skyrim and copy your mod to that folder to test it out. That way you'll know if it's something with Skyrim or in your mod.

The Scripts are there in the CK and can be edited but that doesn't explain why the outside objects i have placed would have disappeared?

I have found some extra stuff, the objects i have placed in the world have also disappeared from the CK as well, without me even doing anything to them, the scripts are there and can be edited but they don't work like they should/did.
What the Hell is going on?

What steps have you done to track down the problem? Tried going back to a recent previous version of your mod? Tried on a new clean save? Tried a clean install?

I never actually backed up my mod in the first place, i guess we all learn the hard way... i have decided to redo my mod simply copying the scripts and content to another .esp and re-make the missing objects, this time backing the .esp at every major change.
