Who do I contact at Beth to give a demo of my game?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:23 am

I have enough of my game completed to act as a demo of sorts, and I'd like to know if I should keep on trucking with what I'm doing or maybe do another project. My eventual goal is to get a job at gamesas. How do I get what I have into their hands?

I can't publish in the traditional ways (nexus, workshop, etc.) as I do not have the IP to everything (well, anything, my game is a recreation of Planescape: Torment) so I need to give it to them directly.

Does anyone know how I'd do that?

I'd just send it with your application and just mention "This is a demo game I've created.". That might be the best idea.

I'd message Gstaff and see what he says. Other than a job application, there isn't really a way to contact them directly.

EDIT: Also, not to burst your bubble or anything, but if you hope to get a job, I would just mod Skyrim to add additional content that fits in. They will be far more impressed if you can make something that looks awesome, people love, and fits into the game well, than they would be if you can copy another game in the Skyrim engine. Also you're taking a HUGE gamble hoping that they will take your 'game' and pay for the IP and to publish it. Especially since (As far as I know in my very limited knowledge) you don't have a record or any other mods or anything to showcase your talent.

The game isn't meant to be used, its to demonstrate that I'm capable of completely overhualing the game engine to do things it wasn't intended to do.
But thanks, I'll message GStaff.

Also, I do have some other mods, though none of them have become overwhelmingly popular.

Ah, okay. I had gotten the impression that you were looking to have it picked up by them, and I was all >.>

If you are just using it as a 'portfolio', then just apply to BGS and list it as something you've made, along with possibly attaching it somehow. However, since the guy hiring you is unlikely to play through the whole thing you've made to see if it's good, you would need to release it to the public. That way you can just say 'Look at everyone who says this about it'. However, again, if you can't release it, you may be in hot water...

Hmmm. I think I'll just start another project.
I'm going to make NPCs have perks.
Wish me luck.

Recreation of Planescape Torment? Are you planning on releasing it? It's one of my all time favorite games and if you managed to recreate even a fraction of it in Creation engine, I believe a lot of people would love to see it.

Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to release it I don't have the IP rights to do so. I'm going to contact Atari about that though.

But did you make everything yourself? Even if it's based in their world, so long as you aren't making money off of it and didn't rip any models (Or that kind of thing), I don't see a problem with releasing it. After all, we see Warhammer 40k, FF, a huge range of anime mods; all sorts of mods that are remakes of things from other games. As long as you made it all yourself, and you aren't profiting off of it, it should be okay for a mod.

Just ask Gstaff.

So long as you made it all yourself and don't profit, it shouldn't be a problem for a mod.
