Average dB of Skyrim's Dialogue

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:45 pm

I'll be adding voiced dialogue to a mod and I'm wondering what the average dB Skyrim's dialogue is in so I can make the voice work seemlessly fit without it being too loud or too quiet. Thanks.

I'd like to know too! Getting a voiced actor going and currently I'm just going -2dB off of Audacity's default. Seems to fit. But I'd like to know what to really use. :)

I just turn my speakers to the level I do for just about any game I play, then make the audio a good level (Probably a bit quieter than you think it needs to be). It's still sometimes whacky ingame, so I just come back and alter the files if need be. Then again I hand alter a huge amount of it, as I get lines in from 31 different people and, as you can probably imagine, they are all different volumes. :P

I figure someone with access to ripping the sound from the game could check. I have no idea how this would be done but I imagine once that's put into a sound editor, the info should be right there.

Here is a file from my current project: http://www.mediafire.com/?7bl2jwm2p7xwhwz It's volume is perfect ingame. Matching it should work. Of course, you'll still want to test ingame and adjust accordingly afterwards. (Just incase?)
