Marking followers as essential isn't working

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 3:37 pm

Hello,

I downloaded a mod to make my followers essential. I thought it was working until I went into a dungeon and a trap that set off a battering ram killed all three of them. I then decided to try making my own mod by setting my three followers to essential, deleted the other mod, loaded up my save and the trap still kills all three.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

How are you going about it? There are at least *three ways to skin this cat.

*Aliases, actor base edit, script

Yes, it would be useful to know how you tried to make them essential--and also what other follower mods you're using (since you have three followers you're probably using some sort of multi-follower mod), and what your load order is.

I just clicked on the actors name and checked the Essential box.

I also have loaded UFO - Ultimate Followers Overhaul but I have my mod loaded first so it overrides the other. The followers I have are J'zargo, Onmund and Brelyna.

Doesn't UFO already include the ability to make followers essential?

Also, the way load order works is that mods loaded later override mods loaded earlier--so your mod being loaded first may mean that UFO is overriding it.

Could be the mod they deleted would have worked if it had not been contested...

Yes, although UFO makes changes to the main DialogueFollower quest to enable its multi-follower functionality, so just as likely the deleted mod might have broken UFO if correctly positioned.

Thank you both. I didn't explore the UFO options enough. I will try to make them essential through that. Otherwise I'll change my load order. :)
