How do you make a custom armor able to be improved at the cr

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:38 am

All,

I made a copy of grandmaster thief guild armor, but I copied the keyword stacks from normal leather over to it. I also set the enchantments to NONE and the armor/weight/etc to match normal leather. Basically, I made "Black Leather Armor" that should be just like normal Leather armor, except that it looks like the cool stuff.

I can use player.additem to add my 4 new custom items to my character and wear them. However, when I go to the table where you normally improve armor with smithing, it doesnt show up at all.

Is there a script I have to change somewhere to add my items to the list of items that can be improved?

I was hoping that since I gave it the same keyword stack and properties of regular leather, that it would just work, but it didnt.

Help?

Thanks!

Wow! Worked like a champ.

So I guess my next question is: How do I make a merchant offer it for sale? Like if I want Grelka to carry all the pieces, or just have a chance to do so, is there a list somewhere of which merchants sell what? Please forgive my unfamiliarity with the editor so far.

Also, if I simply dont like the name of my .esp file (like, say its called zTest_SKILL_Etc) can I simply change it to something else, like myMod.esp? Or would I need to re-do it from the ground up?

Thanks!

Ah! Looks like all I had to do was put "Grelka" in the filter, click on "All" objects, and edit her chest. Then I went to the bottom of her list categories and added new items, changing the object to my un-Tempered version of the black leather armor, and that did it.

She always sells all types. I guess I could add them to one of her lists and then have them only occasionally generated. But i am totally fine with her selling all 4 pieces. She is the light armor vendor/trainer. Of course she has them all! :)

Thanks to everyone for the replies!
