water effect for an aquarium

Hey everyone,

So I'm planning to have some sort of aquarium in my house, and was wondering if I could get some advice. Currently what I have now is one of the "waterpuddle" objects. Which would be fine for my purpose but there is a slight issue.

So what you might notice is that the water gets darker/reflective basically above the crosshair. I'm sure there is a better way to do this.

Thanks for any info!

So, I was thinking of effect shaders and browsed through the list in the CK. I couldn't find any obvious shaders that would give me that "wavy distortion" look of water does anyone know of something that could work, or will I need to make my own?

i had to create a new mesh using nifskope to get the wavy glass look for my aquarium.

i started with one of the puddle nifs and created new textures for it so that none of the water surface is visible, and that it only distorts the image with the refraction-like effect.

this was a really long time ago so i cant remember exactly what the steps were, but i just remember that it wasnt done using the CK at all, it was all done in photoshop and nifskope

I'll post what I get when I make some progress.
