Can't open CK - anyone else have the issue?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:31 pm

Cannot even open the CK with only skyrim.esm as the only selected file.
Steam status has a line throught the cloud. (EDIT: This just means I have set Steam to not synch game saves online - which was causing save problems about thre months ago.)

Anyone else have an issue?

It loads only 8% and then I get the "Creation Kit has stopped working" message.
I verified tools, cleaned cache, removed my mod totally from the data folder.
Reinstalled...

Am attempting to open ONLY skyrim.esm to verify that I can open the CK.

8% and then crash.

This makes me very sad.

I can get it open. load parent esm, but as of yesterday, I have a glitch where all character torsos are invisible whether they wear armor, clothes or nothing. Still not sure if it's something I did or a problem on Bethesda's side. CK has also been very unstable since that update. I must have crashed ten times in two hours.

No problem on my side. Loaded Skyrim.esm, Update.esm and one of my mods and everything is okay. It's the first time I've opened it since the update that occured yesterday.

There is a new bug, where edited races and armors has invisible slots. Also, in the case of armors, the same piece of armors can be equipped without counting for the one piece limit and didn't give protection. To have this glitch, you only need to open a previously working file (where a race or armor has been edited) and save (even if you changed nothing).

I downloaded the CK over and over again, after deleting it; defragged it and checked integrity.
Nada.

The problem was Skyrim program file, not CK.
Did an integrity check, and something (it didn't say what) was missing.
I downloaded, and now the CK opens.

Big Sigh Of Relief!

In fact, they rolled back to the previous version because it wasn't compatible with the current version of Skyrim. Source: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1384260-creation-kit-update-question/page__pid__20991385#entry20991385

My problem was solved by verifying the integrity of my skyrim.exe.
Steam told me then that is was missing something (unknown what it was).
It auto-downloaded that piece and I am back to normal. (except all my saves since the 9th are hosed and I have to recover them by hand.)

Thanks!
I was fairly upset about it.
Now to recover my fubar'd mod.
Thankfully I had version control (rudimentary) and nightly saves.
Unfortunately, I didn't also do a test of every save. BIG mistake.
6 days went by before I detected the corrupted save.

Learned a lot from this - the hard way.

Hopefully you won't lose too much time, I lost my landscape for my custom worldspace today, so I'm fishing through backups too!
