Recovery Strategy Help?

Here's my sichyation:

Have my mod version DKR 0.0.0 with verified uncorrupted full exterior ( 11 Tamriel Cells affected - only 6 have added statics - the remainder have minor changes (patrol path markers)) .

In version DKR 0.0.1, I have a 95% complete manor house interior (1 NEW Interior Cell but with a butt-load of house pieces - 3 floors, a cavern, and escape tunnels) added to the mod (this version also includes the 0.0.0 version exterior)
- somehow in DKR 0.0.1, the exterior got corrupted when many statics and linked objects got teleported to WarehouseAmbushes.

So I have a good exterior in 0.0.0
I have a good interior, but bad exterior in 0.0.1

QUESTION >> Is there a way to take the good exterior version 0.0.0 and merge in the NEW interior cell from 0.0.1 (without corrupting the exterior from the bad 0.0.1 version)?

Thanks!

(DKR = DovKroniid Redoubt, my mod's name)

You can try what I tried today, create a new .esp (set as active) and then load your two damaged ones, duplicate each of the good cells from the broken mods and then save the new .esp should have only your good edits. Though if you have a lot of edited cells and worldspaces you'll have to duplicate and save them all in the new .esp

It may well work, in the end I had to load up my mod with my good worldspace and duplicate the interiors from my mod that had the landscape pancaked!

Good luck :D

1. How bout if I first take the 0.0.1 version and do the following:
a. mark it as active.
b. In data> details delete the exterior cells that are changed (and corrupted).
c. save.
d. test in in game to make sure the exteriors are gone.
2. Create a new .esp; save, close.
3. Load the new .esp as active, add (check) the 0.0.0 (good exterior) and 0.0.1 (good interior, bad exterior deleted) ; save.

Would that work?

EDIT (5:42 EST): Steps 1.a, b, c, d. successful. Note: to clear out the entire cell, DO NOT Reorder items in the data>details view. Select the cell name, then scroll down to the next cell (that will list ALL the ref'd items in your cell). press SHIFT-click on the last item in your cell to select EVERYTHING in that cell. Press the Delete key and yes to ignore them all. When they have been set to ignore, it is ok to close the window. Click OK in the data window. Let CK do its thing. Yes to all on any warnings. Once it is done doing its thing, SAVE. Exit out - all your ignored / deleted / selected crap items and changes will be gone.

I fired this up in the game and ALL my exterior cell changes were gone, but my Interior is still there when I look at the CK for 0.0.1

Next up - - - the merge attempt into a new .esp.

Lesson - back up at every stage, at 1, at 2, at 3.

I know you have to duplicate to save in the new esp, saving without duplicating does not add any new cells to the vanilla version as far as I could tell, I tried a rename and save, then reloaded without the dead .esp, my new .esp only had the named cell but no content.

Bear in mind certain things seem to break on a duplicate... so far I have only found that linking room markers seems to have broken but not the portals themselves. Also though no idea why my custom worldspace wouldn't duplicate, I had to do as you did but in the CK.

1. Loaded version 001 and set as active (good exterior, very old interior)
2. Also loaded version 002 (exterior pancaked, nice new interior)
3. In CK duplicated good interiors from 002 and deleted old interior cells from 001
4. Saved 001 with good old exterior and duped interiors
5. Fixed broken room links

so my dreams of a nice fresh .esp where I hadn't opened ever level for a good look are fading fast...

Make sure to save all the files again in some unrelated place first, just in case things go horribly wrong!!

My method worked for me..

There were a few broken things in the duplicated interior cells, nothing major so far, one puzzle and the roombound links, just be prepared to do some testing on your duplicated cells, my guess is that problems will differ from person to person, so just be thorough before moving on,

*what I was saying about not working was a brand new .esp, I couldn't duplicate my worldspace so had no way of adding it to my new save, I went back to my old one and added the new content*
