So where's the real dragons? One-shotted a Blood Dragon

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 2:02 am

Right now I'm level 44 clocked in at 167 hrs (Beat the MQ) and I have yet to encounter an ancient dragon..Also I have just one-shotted a blood dragon, so with the epic music, my "epic battle" has been reduced into a Monty python sketch!

Anyone else who hasn't encountered an ancient dragon?

You need to be level 50 to find a ancient dragon but really they arent much of a fight aswell.

Ancient dragons appear at the 50s range. Strange for you to see such a weak dragon at that level, but eh. Maybe your a bit overpowered/exploited alchemy/enchanting.

Sorry, but I have a very had time believing you one shotted a Blood Dragon unless you have abused game mechanics and/or are using some mods to modify combat.

My level 49 Nord Warrior with a Legendary Daedric Battleaxe that has been improved via BS to do over 300 damage with my +sure grip ring and necklace can't even one shot a blood dragon with a running crit.

Ive noticed Mark For Death is the easy mode shout since you kill things in a few hits.

Great in a pinch though.

Perhaps. I play on apprentice and while I don't one-hit blood dragons I do notice that I can just run in flailing my daggers and it dies pretty fast. But that's pretty much what I expect with someone at a high enough level.

One or two shots, but as it was over too quickly, maybe Lydia whittled his HPs enough for me to take him out so easily..Other words it might've been a fluke..Either way my question was answered.

Nope, adept.

Well you obviously did a Flourish (finishing move) so dont think youre a bada$$. Flourishes seem to occur randomly. I was level 67 with full Legendary Dragonplate and 300HP and a Bandit Highwayman chopped my head off in a single swing with a Steel Dagger.

Im level 61 but I have definatley one hit killed numerous dragons.
Like everyone else said around level 50 youll meet the ancient dragons. They arent much tougher but once in a blue moon you'll get two of them to swoop down on you and then you'll get super lucky and have 3 giants and a couple mamoths ramming you as well. Thats the only "good fight" ive had with dragons involved. Those stupid little bugs that spit poison give more trouble than the dragons do.

Heck, even on Expert difficulty I can almost not kill Blood Dragons, they literally just WRECK me hardcoe, especially the breath. It just eats through my 400 HP.

That's another thing, I've yet to even see an elder! Much less two!...That's it, I'm restarting on expert! After that I'll DL the deadlier dragon mod once the CK comes out as I want to be able to tweak it as well.

Adept is ridiculously easy, there is your answer. Play on master, you will get wrecked.

Is it really level 50 to fight an ancient dragon? because I was like level 38 as an assassin/thief and ran into an ancient dragon. I play on master and that damn thing one shotted me -_-. Maybe it was a sort of bug/glitch that made it appear? Because I had saved it right before a word wall and that ancient dragon was guarding it and was so determined to kill it lol

They (Bethesda) neglected to give dragons natural armor. A misstep in my opinion.

That said, an ancient dragon can destroyed an entire fort containing 10 imperial or stormcloak soldiers or eat that Dragur Deathlord who's been oneshoting you with his ebony bow, so they aren't that bad either.

I think them taking 30 shots from a bow that does 120 damage is just fine.

I've done that with a sneak powerattack with an (unimproved) ebony sword and dagger. But i guess sneak is one of those skills one shouldn't use to avoid breaking the game? :teehee:
