If you use a staff of fireball and one that conjures, would you gain points toward leveling up in these fields, each use, or only if you, yourself creates the magic?


Also, i have conjured up the battle axe, and laid 2 dragons and several bandits out, yet conjuration, which is as low as it can be, hasnt moved a point? wrong spell? another pushes leveling up faster??

Staves don't level your skills.

Staves do not increase skills.

As for Bound Weapons, are you using a spell or an enchantment?

Staves dont level up your skills which makes sense seeing as your not technically casting a spell yourself. As for your conjuration, you gain exp for conjuring up a sword or whatever it is you conjure, but you dont gain exp for using the sword/ whatever it is you conjure. You gain exp in that particular school. So if you conjure up a two handed sword you gain conjuration exp for conjuring up the sword and you gain two handed exp for using the sword against enemies.

i figured about the staffs, but wasn't for sure, i thought i had read something about, or come one claiming it would level up.

So the more i conjure the weapon, the more it goes up, got it. figured once i used it, and kept hitting with it, it leveled up,

You get XP in Conj for the CASTING not the USE of a bound weapon.

For this reason, sheathing and recasting your bound weapon for every fight is the fastest way to level conjuration

USING the bound weapon levels the associated weapon skill

Followers get more use out of them then you, imo. Giving one a Staff of Raise Zombie or similar helps out a bit sometimes as you get a another allied NPC to help in fights. They do spam the raise dead ones sometimes though, they fire it off like 5 times in a row on the same corpse.

1. Do you have soul trap?
2. Kill something, cast soul trap on dead body, repeatedly.
3. ????
4. Profit.

As a last resort.

Actually using staves does increase your skill, in enchanting when you refill them. I like to run with a staff of ice storm and a soul trap sword.
