Memorial Markers for fallen companions

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:02 am

So, I had Erandur since I was around level 8 or 10. I was around level 33 when the Frost Dragon hit the College at Winterhold and we had a final parting of the ways. I miss him.

I made a little memorial to him in one of the shelled out houses at the edge of town and got to thinking. It would be nice if when your companion fell if you had the option of create a grave for them, similar to some of the cairns you see here and there. A menu could pop up when you select them (e.g. Build Memorial or Search).

Seems a bit pointless in my opinion, however if they had spare time they could of added it I guess.

I think it is a nice idea.

When I was waiting for Skyrim I started playing "The Lost and Damned", which I had been putting off because I hate macho jerks like most of the characters seemed to be. But once I got into it, it was fun. Then I eventually went up to the top floor of the club house and saw a whole wall of memorials to all the guys who'd died under my command. Felt kind of bad actually.

I always shoot an arrow into the ground at the same spot that they died, weather or not they stay is a whole other question.

Something like this would be nice and could be easily modded in. I don't see Bethesda adding it at this point.

However, since stuff we put on the ground stays on the ground, it would not be too hard to come up with something that we could stack or place there that could serve as a marker. Perhaps some Alchemy Ingredients or Food Items arranged in a certain way. That is if the Physics of the game will let us arrange things.

I had that obnoxious warrior woman from the prancing pony in Whiterun, and she met an untimely death out on the Whiterun-Solitude road. I ratted her house key from her body so I have her house as a memorial to her.

A great idea!

I would also like to have some kind of magic spell that helps me find the corpse of a fallen follower  .

Eat the corpse! Then the follower's death will have a last purpose.

 Not to mention it solves the issue of the munchies.

Would be a nice little touch. I would pay $10 for such a DLC.

That's actually a sweet idea. A little private cemetery next to one of the houses would be cool.

Oh, certainly. Mostly just thinking out loud. I've been stupidly bummed since he bit the dust.

I did drop flowers and gemstones around his poor self and visit from time to time. His body is gone (dragons? wolves? heh) I'm going to drop an amulet of Mara there as well.

Speaking of death and since we now have the Steam workshop available... If anyone likes it a bit more realistic then know that there is a mod out that improves the body physics (aka ragdoll effect). Characters die believable and they will not bounce around ridiculously. The mod only changes the body physics and should not change anything else. It takes the comedy out of death if you will.
