Hmm, that is quite hard considering you want to use all of the specializations. Take a look at this for help http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Races

Argonian or dark elf is your best choice. But in accuallity any race can be molded to fit the bill.

If you intend to fight mages, Breton resistance is good whatever your class. Altmer are the one race that get a bonus to their magical casting capabilities. Argonians get a few magical skill bonuses, so can make good jacks of all trades, though starting skills don't mean much in the long run. Dunmer are traditionally held to be a good spellsword type, not too far from a bit of everything. Bosmer have resistance to poison and disease, again useful whatever your class.

If you wanted an extra boost, I would say Dunmer (Dark Elf). Then again, any race can be what you described, so you can just pick what ever race appeals to you visual and lore-wise.

Imperial or Redguard is probably your best bet for those things. They are both considered mainly warrior races but also get some magic skill bonuses and do well as thief classes. Like has been said before though, what race you pick won't actually make a very big difference to gameplay so go with your favorite one

If you plan to be a bit of everything then you can pretty much choose whichever race you want, really. The importance of choosing a race is the racial abilities. The skill bonuses don't mean much, it's just a headstart in some specific skills, you can improve skills yourself easily.

Personally, I'd go with a Breton for a Jack-of-all-Trades types character.

Bretons are natural born magic users, they have a resistance built up to magicks, and aren't unknown to be great warriors. That's why I think Bretons are the best human race for Jack-of-all-Trades.

Go with the look and playstyle you like more than base stats.

This. I made a mace-wielding Breton conjurer assassin once. Breton's the way to go if you don't want to "specialize".

Nothing beats Breton. Nothing.
  • 25% Magic Resist from racial bonus
  • 25% Magic Resist from The Lord Stone
  • Elemental Protection (Block tree; blocking with a shield reduces incoming frost, fire, and shock damage by 50%)
  • Magic Resistance (Alteration tree; block 30% of a spell's effects)
  • Atronach (Alteration tree; absorb 30% of the magicka of any spells that hit you.
Not to mention the extra damage protection the lord stone will provide (+50 to armor) and Stoneflesh from alteration. With that said, play an orc, because they're manly.

Which one suites me the best?

after playing the different archtypes serperately i've now scrapped all of them and am going with an allpowerful hybrid. i'm finding it to be much more enjoyable than multi playthroughs with different characters.

i'm sure it's due to the fact that nothing changes when you play different characters, except, how you battle. the monotony is gone and i can play however i want everytime i pick up the controller.

in fact, many have said that you can't truely be all-powerful due to the fact that you only have 80 perks to choose from and should, therefore, specialize.

that is absolutely false. my character is choosing the best perks from the best skills and disregarding the MANY useless ones.

having said all of that and the fact that, unfortunately, race doesn't matter in this game, i recommend that you play a nord if you haven't yet because it can really draw you into the game for obvious reasons.

I would say look at the racial abilities and debate back and forth what would be most useful. The skill bonuses are nice, but are not as important.

A warrior could benefit a lot from the Nords frost resist since it will make it harder for mages to slow you down, Dunmer since fire mages can do alot of damage and Breton for their slightly weaker, but all covering magic resistance. Mages are the most dangerous opponents a warrior will face.

Argonians have the very useful Histskin power which gives them a very good healing ability. The Altmer(High Elf) have the same except it is for magica and the Redguard for stamina.

On the mage side Altmer start with higher magica.

The Redguards racial resistance to poison can be useful at times, but I find elemental resistance better.

The Orc lack a racial ability, but have the useful Berserk Power with doubles melee damage done and reduces damage taken by 50% for one minute.

Imperial is the weakest race IMO(I still like them though) since their racial ability is more or less useless, though the Voice of the Emperor can be useful. Then again the Nord have a very similar power(Battle Cry) making them a supperior choice(IMO) when it comes to having a useful character.

The Khajiit have extra unarmed damage and can se in the dark so I would set them above the Imperial, but below most others.

The Bosmer have a resistance to both disease and poison whoch can be useful.

On the passive side the Argonian can breath under water and have a disease resistance.

If you are going for a "best" race it is pretty much Breton you want because their magical resist can't really be matched, but there are plenty of other good choices too.

Seems like hitting him with some sort of sword would be in order.

Personally I would either pick Breton (better defense against magic) or Orc (better offense and defense but only once a day for 60 seconds). Usually the most demanding battles happen once a day anyway. There is nothing which can replicate Berserk double damage and -50% damage reduction, but magic resistance can be increased pretty high even without Breton racial. Skill bonuses are just minor convenience at low levels. All skills can go to 100 anyway. They should add bonus beyond 100, but they don't.

Always go with Breton, no matter what playstyle. Easier to max out magic resistance with.

Lorewise I think bretons are a bit human and bit elven even when it comes to personality. I've always seen them as a High-imperial.
