Armour Could look Better!

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:41 am

Just to get the ball rolling i would like to point out that the only 2 half decent looking a pieces of armour in skyrim is at 50% Steel Plate and 90% Deadric armour. Please add a tool so we gamers can make our own. Preferably for consoles

Let me & Bethesda know your thoughts.

There's already a tool (PC only) called the Creation Kit, which has already been used to make lots of new armor. (Although, technically they are modelled via another tool first and then imported into the game with the CK)

As for a console version, speak to Microsoft and Sony. They are the ones that won't allow this level of modding on their consoles.

I think the armor looks great as is. In general though, if you're not prepared to be satisfied with the game as is, you should really consider switching over to PC. I'm easy to please, so I'm fine with what the console gives me, but you sound like the type that would get a real kick out of modding.

steel plate, steel, iron, ebony(not the helmet) and daedric armer look good.

don't really like light armor at all. besides the guild ones and fur.

soo.. i think there are some good looking armor, but there is a lack of good looking high lvl armors.

Not entirely true, Bethesda and MS/Sony just have not come to an agreement on how it chould and should be implemented, and all the other additional issues such as cost of implementation, storage locations and fee's, licencing, data ownership, etc etc.

They do actually allow titles that allow full customisation of the game. Trials HD and the more recent Trials Evolution n360 both allow customised content for free. Trials Evo actually has the identical creation tools that the developers used to make the game levels, so anything the devs can do the player can do to and more of it and all for free.

Similarly Little Big Planet on PS3 allows users to create their own content for the title.

I think Skyrim has great armors.
In my opinion the greatest of them would be Stormcloak Officer Armor and Orcish Armor. (both male and female)

I do think the game lacks fur, fur cloaks and more fur based clothes would be enough to please me if it is about appearance.

Still comes back to what I said though, until and unless the details (And there's a lot of them) can be worked out, they won't allow it.

I think the armors looked better in Oblivion, myself. I do like the faction armors though, especially TG and Nightingale, though I added an open faced hood mod for the latter. Bummer you are on console as far as mods go. But there might be hope: Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see more armors in the DLC.

Big difference between a simple map editor and what the CK can do.

This is all a matter of what one likes. For example I never liked the Daedric armor. I don't hate it, just don't like it. Never used it on any of my characters. I actually like the "lower end" armors the most. Fur, hide, iron, plate for my "knightly" characters.

And even the CK can't "make new armor". Doing that takes (at a minimum) a 3D modeling program, and a graphics program (to make the textures). Various types of these are available on the PC, but will never end up on consoles - between lack of power & no reason to do it in the first place (since developers can work on PCs/etc to build their stuff).

I think that Skyrim armour looks better than Obliviov in general but TBH I don't really like any of the light armour sets and only a few of the heavy armour sets. My char wears almost all mod armour. Of course this is down to personal taste.

Some of the Armour looks a bit naff, (I was chuffed when I got my first Elven Armour, but it made my Redguard look like a girl!). I've finally make myself some Dragon Scale, (with a full set of Dragon Plate for Lydia), and to do that after nearly 200 hours of gaming was a great moment for me. Was so nice to finally dig into my store of Dragon Bones and Scales that I'd been hoarding for ages.

I'll never get Daedric with this Character though...I only chose the Light Armour Perks in the Smithing Tree, and even though I'm only at 57 I doubt this Character's going to increase many (if any) more levels.

I think the issue is that some of the higher end armors look a bit cartoonish, like Glass, Ebony, and Daedric to be specific.

People tend to like the lower end armors like Iron and Steel, its when you get to the high end stuff that things get goofy. I think they should have had a high end counterpart to Daedric that was good aligned. Not everyone wants to look like an oblivion reject.
