How do you make your Nord original ?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:15 am

Hello guys !

So I want to start a discussion to any Nord players out there.
When you play a Nord , what makes him/her special and original from RP view for you ?
Do you prefer making it simple or come up with big deep stories ?

Discuss !

Wish I could come up with a 'deep' story. Skyrim was my first ES game, so the world/races/lands are all new to me. That makes it much harder to come up with something special background wise.

As for the 'I don't need worldly knowledge for a trait' ...he's very nice. Too nice. Gets duped a lot into doing things that turn out to be evil. Does that get him to think twice about helping a stranger, heck no. It's his mission in life (outside saving the world and all).

So I guess I keep it simple :) See what happens along the way and build from there.

My character (a nord) is a part of The Hakin (pronounced Haakiin), an ancient nord order of heroes who dedicate their lives in order to protect the people of Tamriel and serve the gods.

His name is Ke'vas Hakin. He was named in the traditional way of the Hakin, with two abbreviations of two dragonwords, and then the name of the bloodline. Ke'vas is an abbreviation for "Kein Vahzah", meaning "War True". Hakin was the founder of the Hakin order back in ancient times, and was even called by name by dragons. Therefor, Kein Vahzah Hakin is practically a shout (although it doesn't consist of official words of power)

My character came to Skyrim after the Hakin HQ in Imperial City was attacked by mercenaries of the Thalmor, who wanted to hunt down the clan. My character, who is a descendant of Hakin, was told to return to the ancient land (Skyrim) to help the clan regain strength (and new members).

He then found out that he was dragonborn, just like Hakin, which also helped as he took over the clan.

^That's just my story, I hope you enjoyed it.

I try to keep it simple. I prefer the regular guy over a 'superhero'. I try to refrain from stories that involve revenge, for they are way overused.

I won't make such an intracatly detailed background so that i need to base my future decisions round it, but rather leave it open so that my character will be made by my decisions. For example, my Nord at the moment lived in a small Nord farming community in Cyrodil before it was attacked by the Thalmor for Talos worshipping which killed his parents and friends. He manages to escape and then, upon hearing about the Stormcloak rebellion, heads to Skyrim to join them as Cyrodil is no longer safe for him. This way the only decision my character needs to take is to join the Stormcloaks.

Clan Name and History usually makes em seem unique for me. Say that their ancestors were part of the companions or something. Giving their armor and weapons more meaning than just being steel, like they are ancient family heirlooms passed down from each great warrior to the next
