Necromancy idea

Necromancy could be a school of magic where you cast the spell, then you need to select body parts (such as troll skull, wolf pelt, dog meat, deadra heart, eagle eye, eagle claw, giant toe) and once you're happy with the body parts, it will either

a) say the creature is too advanced for your spell (aka fail the spell- similar to soul gem failure)

(the higher the spell level, the higher creature level it can summon + how much longer it lasts + you get health when it attacks (it drains health, but it drains it to you) and you can also "consume" it which will give you a much higher max hp + max magicka, will fill up the increased bars, and will also give you higher regen of hp and magicka)

or  summon the creature - which will combine the body parts to its look - possiblity of really awesome, gruesome creatures

I had the idea when I thought - why the hell do we have all these useless skulls... then it developed into this necromancy idea.

edit: I also had an idea for a "decay spell" what it does is anything that has flesh/meat on it (ghosts, skeletons, machines, etc dont count) will be fed on, which gives you body parts to summon with, and restores hp/mp

But isn't necromancy the art of reanimating the dead and not reconfiguring the dead.
I like the idea of taking similar body parts and puting them together, then reanimating them.

But too make a whole new creature is something different than Necromancy.

Unless that is you get really creatively insane like that gate keeper creator woman in the Shivering Isles.

I see your point but I think it was only hated/feared and illegal in Cyrodill,at least until the oblivion crysis.

In Skyrim I think it is only somewhat feared,or strange, not hated and certainly not illegal.

The mages guild in oblivion made necromancy illegal, but those laws don't apply to Skyrim.

But yes the right parts would be difficult to obtain.

Before anyone talks about necromancy, read this book "http://www.imperial-library.info/content/preparation-corpse" It is very much the only real source of the craft. Also, necromancy is legal in all places, even in the fourth era, save for Morrowind and VERY heavily regulated in Summerset Ilse. The only time it became illegal was in the Mages Guild when Traven took over, and it's illegal in the Synod. Of course, most common folk range from disgust to utter hatred for the craft. It's not illegal, but the common folk will find a reason to drive you out of town, at best, should they know/suspect one is a necromancer. It is a crime to grave rob.

As of now, what is seen in Skyrim is the most accurate view of the craft, however, being able to assemble custom bodies would be a nice feature to add.
