Folks, tell about one of your most surreal, immersive moment

In this thread, talk about a time in Skyrim when you were completely drawn into the universe, the kind of moment where you afterwards realize just how important such magical moments are to your core enjoyment of the work as a whole...unless, of course, I'm the only person who ever feels this way.

I had one today. I'll tell it as I experienced it.

Sheets of rain coat the craggy, forested hills of the Reach as they fall from clouds that shroud the land in a shadowy grey pallor. Periodical thunder rumbles rustle the bark of pines. Clad in Nightingale armor, I move quietly as a specter through the trees, boots sodden from the now marshy earth. A soft stringed symphony accompanies my footsteps.

Suddenly, a grunt and a rustle emerge betwixt thunder's interlude. Body paralyzed, I carefully scan the local shrubbery until my eyes fall upon a furry mass, but only a stone's throw away. The beast rises up and shuffles for a moment, but she is calm - she does not sense my presence. As she rustles to the ground again, resting, I draw a bow from my back. Arrow notched, time seems to slow down as I hold my breathe and take aim for the inner leg of the great bear. Loosing my fingers, a killcam follows the point to its mark and, after a sharp snarl, the beast falls silent and limp, as if slumbering.

Shouldering my weapon, I crawl forward to examine my kill. She seems peaceful and serene, with but only a single arrow disturbing her otherwise natural state. Plucking it from her body, I take one last look at the fallen creature before checking my map and continuing my journey northward, adding one more kill to my record...

Shortly afterwards, during a pause and bathroom break, I realized just how much an otherwise simple experience had affected me so profoundly. And moments like those are truly why I still play Skyrim to this day.

well, while i was adventuring in the wilderness at night, i saw a large glowing dome off in the distance, as i headed for it, i heard humming, it was a crop full of nirnroots on a small farm.

i decided to hang around for awhile and chat with the guard outside, and the sky filled with a beautiful aurora borealis, and as the moons were overhead, i heard a roar as a dragon flew across the sky, passing in front of the moons, it was one of the non-aggressive dragons, so it just flew by and left... anyway, witnessing such a spectacle stripped me of my breath, it was so epic.

after that, i decided to stay there for the whole night and watch the sun rise slowly, so i could fully enjoy the moment.

one of my favorite memories the game.

( I have to say this first, with this toon I made liberal use of the restoration loop to make "super" potions )

My Khajiit Tharkun was in Whiterun selling off his wears that he picked up on his travels, as he was leaving to go adventuring a friendly guard happend to tell him about a dragon at " Shearpoint" and to avoid it at all costs. Well being the true adventurer Tharkun decided to go and have a look and see the foul worm, as he made the climb the dragon awoke and took flight to stretch it's wings, in fear Tharkun pressed up to the rock face of the mountain as closely as he could and continued to sneak the rest of the way so as to not raise the alarm.
As he reached the summit of the mountain he noticed that the foul worm had returned to it's slumber, so continuing to sneak forward Tharkun drew his bow from his back and knocked an arrow in preparation for the ensuing battle. He let loose his arrow straight for the beasts forehead which met it's mark with vast precision, the foul beast awoke from it's slumber looking for whom ever dares challenge it. Tharkun was by this point just about nose to nose with the beast when it finally noticed it's furry intruder, with the sound of rushing air Tharkun looked up to see that the beast had not only seen him but was preparing to send forth the fires of hell to dispatch this intruder.

Tharkun let loose one more arrow making it's mark squarely in the beasts chest before it could take flight, which in turn forced the beast to land out of pain. Tharkun unsheathed his glass sword and readied his shield for battle, both parties dealt magnificent blows, just one of which would cripple any normal being, but a last the foul worm proved to be a worthy adversary. Thakun's life force was almost depleted and in a last ditch effort to slay the beast he made a wild swing in hopes that it would make it's mark, it did not. The dragon took full advantage of this mistake and unlocked it's jaws for the final blow to dispatch this furry intruder.

In an act of instinct Tharkun threw open his satchel fumbling for a health potion, just as the beasts jaws wrapped around him he drank his " super " restore health potion. But to no avail, the foul worm clamped down on Tharkun nearly swallowing his in one bite. The beast had won, with a sharp shake of it's head Tharkun was dispatched and thrown across the top of the mountain, but to his surprise as he landed the health potion that he drank in a fleeting moment of desperation was still working and that his health( all be it almost gone ) was rising and restoring his life force. Tharkun wild with rage jumped up out of the snow drift that he landed in and made a final " last ditch " charge towards the beast before it could fly off, swing like a wild man of the Reach Tharkun cut the foul worm to ribbons and was victorious.

As Tharkun stood in place resting and trying to contemplate what just happened, he noticed that a coffin that he had missed when he first peered across the summit had begun to open. To his shock it was a dragon priest of legend and was very fearful of what my be coming his way, once again instinct kicked in and Tharkun rushed forward shield and sword in hand to engage this evil being in mortal combat. With a mighty swing Tharkun landed the first blow and continued to hack and slash wildly, but the dragon priest was proving just as powerful as the dragon he had just slain. With a sudden movement the dragon priest called forth a blinding blast of lightning with it's staff which in turn sent Tharkun flying back to the same spot that the dragon had put him, all the while being shocked to death. But to his surprise the very same health potion he used to save his life the first time was still in working order and once again breathed life into his lifeless form, he arose and drew his bow in hopes that one final blow would free him from this " hell on Nirn ". Taking aim he let loose on final arrow which must have been guided by the divines for it made it's mark and dug deep in to this creatures chest ending what unnatural life it had.

From this point on Tharkun was a legend, and it inspired me to see him as a mauled bloody mess. That day Tharkuns physical features where changed for the rest of his life, due to his injuries Tharkun had lost much of what used to be his delicate yet powerful muzzle in the batte, scaring him and rendering him a grotesque creature, which forces this once handsome, powerful Khajiit to ware the very mask of the creature who gave him his scares.

Mine was as follow. I arrived in Ivarstead. (I rarely fast travel.) when an ancient dragon attacks. I grabbed my bow, but suddenly realised that i was out of arrows. i equiped my sword and shield once again. Suddenly the dragon landed and stood right in front of me. I expected he was going to use his fire breath, since ancient dragons can chip down my health pretty fast, i did'nt hesitate for a moment and turned around and ran for it. knowing i couldn't make it, i jumped over a fence, while the dragons fiery breath raged by. I chained him on the ground with dragon rend and started attacking him. I kept bounding him to the ground with dragon rend, till i missed. He flew up in the sky and then some of the gaurds shot him with arrows. The damage he sustained was too much and he crashed on the ground. Then i finished him off by stabbing him throught the skull.

This fight felt really epic, i have slain lot of dragons, but this one took me the longest. I felt like a real dragonslayer.

Entering Yngol Barrow, thinking it would just be another Draugr tomb, then suddenly strange blue glowing orbs begin to follow me...

Every time I play it basically. I get drawn into the worlds of the Elder Scrolls games so easily. I have only played Oblivion and Skyrim but I've spent countless months absorbed in both of these games.
