So as with all factions You end up being the leader. Do you think it will be the same in dawnguard? Harkon Is lord of volkihar castle, and in order for you to become leader he must be removed in some way.....right? So do you think you will become leader of the dawnguard, or the lord of castle volkihar ? And gain you own castle in being the leader.

Wouldn't surprise me. That's almost how it always goes in Elder Scrolls games

Gotta have 'em all! :wink:The opportunity to be leader of everything isn't complete: can't become a Jarl. I would've liked that.

Even if it happened, your loyal constituents would still be sending you out to do their laundry and fetch troll dung from the near by caves. Honestly, I don't even see what the point of being the leader of everything is. Since you don't actually lead anything.

Maybe they just hate their new Jarl?

But seriously, if the player could become Jarl, the best option would probably be the one town that doesn't haven one anymore: Helgen. (Because not everyone is going to play for the same side in the civil war and booting someone else probably just isn't feasible.) The only problem: It's a mess. Be in charge of the mess. Get builders to make a mill, have the mill make wood for rebuilding, mine ore for rebuilding, recruit people to do all the boring parts like farming, smithing, chopping wood, etc. Basically the Dragonborn would be recruiting potential villages and overseeing work. He or she could participate if you wanted to.

I've thought about this too much...

I still think ascending to guild/faction leadership shouldn't be part of the classic "Storyline". Thieves guild does it right. It should always be available for those who want that affirmation, but it should be an option. Specifically, an option that doesn't require completely ignoring the content to achieve.

I have a feeling harkon is going to die no matter which side you choose.
