I play the canon character for each game on DID with the hardest difficulty, or try to.
The canon Nerevarine gave it a decent shot, but died to a random critical hit.
The canon Champion of Cyrodiil never actually died, but I died of boredom because the hardest difficulty mode for Oblivion requires you do nothing but sneak and rely on poisons and summons and perma-invisibility to do all the work.
The canon Lone Wanderer died. MULTIPLE TIMES. Each time stupider than the last. (random explosions, the Firelance event happens RIGHT NEXT to a raider, who picks it up and one shots the LW, the LW falls because the ledges of the Rivet City boat are kinda poorly rendered, so he literally just walks off since the edge seems longer than it actually is, the Operation Anchorage sequence where they blow open the door delays, then suddenly everyone remembers to launch their fat man mini nukes when the LW is standing in front of the door, a random raider doesn't see the danger of firing a rocket launcher downwards at point-blank range, a random raider with a flamethrower randomly decides he should light that car to the right of him on fire and kill both of them...)

....MOVING ON
The canon Courier actually survived. First try. This kinda astounded me because it's simply never happened for me, but the canon Courier did have good stats. The storyline implied a durable and lucky Courier, which are both very defensive stats.
The canon Dovahkiin died multiple times, each time to an even more corny kill cam being activated out of nowhere.
At this point I'm kinda at the philosophy of "why try again when it's obvious the build I think the canon character would have is doomed to fail" in the cases of the Lone Wanderer and the Dovahkiin.
