Funny thing that I noticed

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 2:44 pm

So I'm from Belgium, and I recently saw the map of tamriel:

http://www.google.be/imgres?hl=nl&gbv=2&biw=1600&bih=668&tbm=isch&tbnid=np-14GDT2ACSrM:&imgrefurl=http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Maps&docid=JR583MlroNYxfM&imgurl=http://images.uesp.net/thumb/c/c3/TamrielMap.jpg/400px-TamrielMap.jpg&w=400&h=289&ei=mR_fT7LmEc6G-waQrrCFCg&zoom=1

Now it kinda reminded me of the map of Belgium (minus some little differences):

http://www.google.be/imgres?hl=nl&biw=1600&bih=668&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=BOrLLpxu8RajvM:&imgrefurl=http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/europe/belgium/&docid=Bdb2vYJdCbp5jM&imgurl=http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/europe/belgium/map_of_belgium.jpg&w=466&h=350&ei=Nx_fT5uPDcK6-Aao9JmoCg&zoom=1

Probably coincidence though, but I think it's kinda nice for me as I can situate myself as a Nord as I'm living in that region in Belgium.

Thought it may be fun to share in the wait of Dawnguard

Maybe a little bit, but there still a huge difference.

It seems that everyone wants to find some kind of relation and similaries between Elder Scrolls world and their own real life.

If Tamriel looks like Belgium, then Flanders would be Skyrim, trying to cedede from the Empire and stuff. Figures.

Actually, I think that what you meant was:
They are completely the same, except for the bits which are totally different.

Tamriel kinda looks like Australia... Not to mention Nirn itself is a dead ringer for Earth.

I mean, when I look up at our own two moons, I could almost imagine finding a Dwemer ruin in my backyard.

Its is more like a smushed up version of the whole of Europe. I mean I can see an Italy in there and Highrock is obviously a combination of Sweden, Norway and Finland. :ermm:

Belgium looks more like the birthmark on my wife's butt, except for the shape. Skyrim puts me in mind of something somebody made up for a game. Otherwise, yeah, dead ringer.

Sorry, no offense intended. I live in Texas, and its shape reminds me of a splotch I saw this morning on my toast. I guess I just don't get married to arbitrary lines on a map. My father fought at Bastogne in WWII with the airborne. He loved the Belgian people. Didn't care much for Germans, but really liked Belgium.

Again, my apologies.
