How to get rid of potions?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 7:12 pm

I have 120 carry weight worth of potions, I just can't stop pick up every potion I see. I don't even use them much. Also I have about 64 frost bite venoms. I just don't want to get rid of them. Would it just be best to dump them all?

You can sell them you know.
And obviously only pick up the ones you need.

Sell them, store them, or just drop everything except Health/Stamina/Magicka potions

If you plan on just dumping them, at least sell them to a vendor, even for zero money. That way you won't increase any save file bloating, by just dropping them.

Potions really add up. So do their ingredients, over time.

Sell: That also will boost your speechcraft, of course.

I usually just store all my unwanted potions in a specific chest designated just for useless potions/poisons.

I just sell them, I always too many potions.
Especially when I play an alchemist. I've had followers carrying literally their entire encumbrance in potions before.

This is a good idea. I store most of my use some. Also some quest from the radiant A.I. will ask for some types of potions. Plus if you some quick gold sell them. I've become a fan of using poisons.

I have the same problem with everything. I see it and want to pick it up. I'm getting better at not picking up everything I see and sell a good bit to.

Potions in general have very good value/weight ratio even the lowly healing potions and frostbite venoms. You can sell them at general merchants and at alchemist shops. I have one container where I keep all the things I want to sell off but too lazy to do so. Once in a while I clear it out and do lots of selling at once.

If you do fast travel, it's quite easy to get rid of your loot quickly by going from town to town. Good paths that I use are. Markarth to Riften, 26 hours. Markarth to Windhelm 22 hours. Riften to Solitude 22 hours. So If it's morning and I'm in Markarth, I go to Riften, If it's afternoon, I go to Windhelm and come back.

This. Potions are completely useless if you don't use them.

I sell most of them, and all the poisons, since I don't bother with poison. And I also make them, via alchemy, and sell what I make. I could be a very rich elf without doing any adventuring at all: I just harvest or buy ingredients, mix multi-effect potions, and sell them. It helped pay for my disastrous effort to learn elven smithing.

I sell what I wont need, store those I wont need immediately if I have loads of them, and keep the rest.
