Made a mistake this morning thought I would download the HI Res pack......
can some one please tell me how to stop this 13 hr download , gee it would
be nice to play this game I paid 65 bucks for and have the DVD in my hand .
but NOOO steam got better ideas I will not be able to play for the next 13 hrs.
I have tried the off line mode , tryed pausing the update , tryed standing
on my head and wistling Dixe NOTHING please some one tell me how to
stop steam from ruinig my day.....

Started the download and now it won't stop? Try playing the game in Off Line Mode.

You may have to send an email to Steam and request them to remove the DLC from your account. Note, if you don't have a 64bit OS, the texture pack will not work anyway. Well, it will cause crashes.

The other thing is to set the download to happen overnight (especially if you can get the download to stop for a while by playing offline)
