Jagged Crown should be optional to keep without hindering pr

The Jagged Crown is the best designed head piece, but be sacrificed to pursue the civil war side quest. This needs to be enchantable and upgradeable by smithing.

Well the whole point is that it would make the person with it have a better claim to the throne and would either side want you to have a claim to the throne which you could try to claim anyway being dragon born?

This is why I like the forgery system in Dragon's Dogma. You can pay large sums of money to an npc to make forgeries of nearly any item in the game, and then turn in fake quest items while keeping the real one.

Now that could actually work well....but some items just...idk seems sort of cheap. Depends how much it costs

"Hey there Ulfric! Now, I know you want the crown because you want to be king and all ... But I want it, so you can't have it. So let's just continue on, ignoring the fact that I've stolen your crown!"

I don't think Ulfric would like that. Or Elisif, if you're an Imperial.

Seriously though, it sort of defeats the purpose of finding the crown. The crown is a symbol of power, the helm worn by the old Kings of Skyrim. Therefore, shouldn't it be worn by the King?

Whats interesting is they actually programmed some repercussion to forgeries in that game, namely that they cannot replicate special effects. So for one quest you turn in a magic ring to a guy, and later he tries to use it to open a sealed chest with rewards he wants to gift you, but it doesn't work so you end up having to steal it if you want it since you have the real ring.

You cannot duplicate it because it is a quest item. I would try the mannequin trick.

That would defeat the point in going to get it.

"Hey, I got the crown!"

"Nice, good job"

"But i'm keeping it"

"Okay : ("

This. Granted, I am irked by there not being an option in game for the Dovahkiin to take over.

You keeping it is a prerequisite for half the lore in skyrim. I kept the refuel axe, but the storyline continued until completion.
