Where's the life ?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:51 pm

Hello everybody !
I have read some topics in UESP right now and came across something rather interesting.
In the topic about a count from Leyawiin , you can see all of his daily life.

However , when I saw Balgruuf's topic I saw nothing except the key stuff.

Does that mean that Balgruuf does nothing of daily life ?
For comparison:

Count Marius Caro

Balgruuf the Greater

Note that they refer to Balgruuf's article as a 'stub' that needs to be added to. They just haven't included Balgruuf's entire schedule - perhaps no-one has researched it yet?

But on the topic of schedules:
Skyrim's NPCs have less complex schedules than their Oblivion counterparts. Skyrim's found a middle ground between Morrowind and Oblivion.

In Morrowind, shopkeepers would stand in the same spot 24/7. In Oblivion, NPCs often take journeys across the province, and are often killed by wildlife and bandits. In Skyrim, NPCs (for the most part) spend their lives in the one city, but within that city they sleep, eat, clean, tend to crops and such.

So it's not that Skyrim's NPCs are lifeless. They just don't take epic voyages across the land ;)

Stalk him and find out.

It takes time to fill out pointless fluff on wikis, Skyrim is still new-ish.

Well that makes sense.

This.

They've had since 2006 to compile that Oblivion database.

Maybe he is just lazy now in his age. Look at the way he sits. Posture says it all.

I don't think any of the jarls do much really, other then going to the dining tables and going to bed. They have conversations with stewards, but usually from the throne.

This^^ and also upon reading both articles there is one key difference. The Oblivion wiki doesn't talk much about his daily schedule. Most of that entire page is talking about the quests that he will send you on. While he's still just sitting in his chair. With adding all the details for Balgruuf's quests it would probably be as much if not more. While he of course also just sits in his chair.

I think all the Count's and such did in Oblivion was sleep, possibly stop to eat in the morning then they'd come down to the throne room and sit all day. With the exception of whatshername would go galavanting around the country side.. and in some games for me get killed.

Yes but after reading few more I noticed that many NPCs did special stuff , like going for a walk , traveling between cities , etc.
