I can't find Giants and Mammoths any more. I've hunted them into near extinction it seems. When will they come back??? This goes for the rest of the wildlife of Skyrim as well. Mounted combat has not been kind to them. Quite kind to raising the archery skill for my mage, however.

Also, just want to give major props to Bethesda for adding mounted combat. This has added tons of life to my Skyrim experience. At 250+ hours, I'm still finding new areas outdoors and I thought more icons couldn't possibly fit on my map.

Lol, yea giants became much easier when you use a horse and a bow on the feilds of whiterun.

I think there's definitely mod possibility for that one.

I've had the exact opposite. Went riding from Falkreath to Whiterun and from there to Riften. Lost count of the number of bandits, bears, wolves (oh my!) and Daedric cult remnants I ran into.

The only thing that disapered for me is my crosshairs all the fightables are still there soo i have to switch to melee.

ive had the opposite, an overabundance of deer and such. admittadly i have seen a few mammoth herds without their sheperds

Yeah, I just discovered how much fun it can be to take out a giant's camp on horseback. For my current character taking on two giants and three mammoths all at once on foot would be suicide, but on a horse with a sword and a few healing potions I run through their group and take a few swings, run away and then turn back around for another pass. Good old hit and run tactics. It works especially well with a greatsword as you get a little more reach and more damage per swing. Still seems a little odd to be swinging a 2 handed sword in one hand.

What kind of tactics do people use for fighting giants with archery on horseback? do you just shoot them and run like heck and take another shot, or is there more to it?



Mammoths are far too slow to catch you on horseback as is, so putting a giant on their back wouldn't really do them much good lol.

I still can't use mounted combat. I must be doing something wrong.

That's unfair advantage ! If a giant can punch me from whiterun to high hrothgar, now he could punch me over to solitude with that mammoth as a booster.
