Does anyone know why the other Daedra are not summon-able?

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 9:38 am

Hey guys and gals,
Allow me to preface with, This is not a whine. I am simply asking if anyone here on the forums knows why other Daedra are not summon-able in Skyrim. Could it be because communing with Daedra of that source is illegal now a la Vigilantes of Stendarr? Or have less and less mages been summoning them since the Oblivion Crisis because of the fear of opening another mass portal? Thanks for any of your ideas and contributions, I'm interested in seeing what the community thinks.

Probably time constraints etc. Although lore-wise it does make sense that most people would be loathe to hop into bed with mehrunes Dagon following the oblivion crisis...

Not only are daedra unsummonable(except for dremora), but all necromantic summons are gone as well. No more dread zombies, no more skeletons, none of that. I was really sadface because I wanted to make a really good necromancer character, but they ended up trading things I wanted but in reality I wanted to both summon undead AND make thralls.

I will also miss the all Daedra summons, nothing beats beating Daedra with Daedra!

This. Time, methinks, crazy rush to meet that 11/11/11 release date. I've been hearing rumors that there'll be a big magic fix in the DLC after Dawnguard? Could just be rumors though.

its now alot harder for daedra to enter nirn since the oblivion crisis. ever since martin turned into the avatar of akatosh, defeated mehrunes dagon and closed the gates to oblivion, its alot harder for them to come over....

Aside from Dremora and Atronachs, what would you like to summon?

Lore-wise it makes no sense that you can summon a dremora yet you're unable to summon the lesser one like scamps.

I heard it's only hard to come "uninvited". I mean, you physically meet Sanguine in a random bar.

I'm under the impression that Martin sacrifice works just like the dragonfires only permanent and doesn't need to be renewed, and thus makes no sense that they can be summoned in the time dragonfires yet unable now, I'm maybe wrong though.

Yep, spell variety is definitely one of the thing that Oblivion did better than Skyrim, not just in conjuration but in general.

Lore-Wise, I blame the Oblivion Crisis. Obvious reason. Paranoia tends to linger after events like that.
Mechanical-wise, who can say? I don't miss Scamps though. I've had enough of them from Morrowind and Oblivion to last me a while.

Golden Saints, Winged Twilights, Ogrim, Daedroth, Clanfears, Scamps and many more.
If not endless the list is quite long.

Still given that Daedra play a much more minor part in Skyrim than they did in MW and Oblivion it would've been a waste of resources creating them when they would be barely used. If more creatures were to be created I'd have liked more unique to Skyrim.

You meet their image or manifestation in the game, never themselves.

"The fight would eventually claim Martin's life as his body was consumed when Akatosh appeared and defeated Mehrunes Dagon, but his sacrifice ensured that the forces of Oblivion could never again threaten Tamriel. Because of this sacrifice, Martin was proclaimed as the greatest of all the Septims by some."

not sure how the dragon fires work. all i know is what i just quoted. the daedric princes have a lot more power than lesser daedra maybe thats how there able to come an go. or when they enter nirn they enter as a "avatar" of sorts & they are stripped of all there power. i dnt know lol just a few ideas...

also like someone above me said you want zombies. you can reanimate the dead pretty sure that would be classed as a zombie. you get "raise zombie" spells...

ah so i was right then. avatar, manifestation i new what i ment lol. :)

I mean, aside from Scamps, what could you summon in Oblivion that you can't summon in Skyrim? Could you summon Xivilia in Oblivion?
I'll tell you what would be neat: More unbound Summons. Like summon two Clannfear and watch them go ape[censored] in Markarth while I cast invisibility to watch the mayhem.

funny thing is the only two Daedra races that sworn eternal loyalty to Mehrunes were scamps, those ape like things whose names i forget and Dremoras, the rest serve other lords.

I think the reasoning behind the dumb down of summoning is so the players don't get confused about which is stronger, which is better to use, etc etc.
