Dawnguard DLC

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 4:08 am

Skyrim is unplayable. It Freezes litteraly every other loading screen, and freezes randomly in game when im in mid-combat, walking around, or just standing there.

I've tried all those neat "tricks" people keep telling me to do like clear my cache turn autosave off and play offline, but that doesn't work, and that doesn't cut it, you shouldn't have to turn off features put into the game becuase the game is broken with them, and this would all be acceptable, maybe one or two months after release but we are over half a YEAR from release! None of this should be happening, it seems every time a new patch is released it fixes a few problems sure, but it also adds double that and more. I've also tried not going to the place where it happens - "Ok just don't go on that side of the map and you should be fine", but this is a free roam game we should be able to go were we go when we want to go there.

And that brings me to my next point. The fabled dawnguard dlc, If this game was playable i would be glad to throw down 20 dollars and buy it but with the game being in this state nu uh. It would be nice if Bethesda (not just skyrim, every mediocre bethesda game has this problem) Play-tested there games before they released them, or atleast fixed the base game before they released any dlc for said game.

Well im done with my little rant now, but i would like to see what other people think of this abomination of electronic entertainment.

I agree with you. I refuse to buy the dlc or anything by Bethesda until Skyrim is fixed almost completely. Some people say that's too much to ask. I say bullsh*t.

All of the ops problems were fixed for me with patch 1.6. I was about 425 hours of play at that time:

Now I'm 565 hours of play, post 1.6 patch.

My original game had static system lock ups, in the same locations (house in markarth, trying to leave companions guild,
any palace, anywhere outside approaching ninroots, etc) 1.6 fixed all of that.

I'm at 565 hours now, because I've been able to play again pretty much bug free. Once a day of play, I might get a "random" freeze
(as I always have in this game, which is almost refreshing after the old static freezes.)

When I was having all the trouble pre 1.6, my savegame files were a minimum of 20 meg. I noticed that as soon as I installed 1.6,
the new save game file was 19 meg, then subsequent ones were 17 meg (where they have remained, 200 saves later or so.)

I have also finally hit level 81, since I was more or less stuck at 72 pre. 1.6 (not able to do that much.)

So I finally feel like I'm OK for dawnguard now.

I have a Slim 4GB console.

What is customer support going to do? they're going to tell me to do things I've already done like clear my patch and delete patches. these forums and people on the internet are more helpful than them.

From what I have heard, you may need a bigger hard drive. Just before Skyrim came out this warning was given,
"Skyrim makes heavy use of caching to the hard-drive, and the initial load could take more time if the game is not fully cached already, or installed to the hard-drive."

So Bethesda advised us to install to the hard drive. Also, someone on the forums said how if you have less than 10 GB left on your hard drive you may have some problems.

Yeah, definitely playable for me, although my game freezes & I have to reboot every day. There are also rare lag fests. A couple stuck misc quests. That's it. I just finished the main quest a half hour ago, so I'm ready for Dawnguard.

I have the 320 gig Xbox, with Skyrim installed. With all due respect, I bought my X a few weeks ago & did not even consider getting the 4 gig.

10 Gigabites!?! That is rediculious and unacceptable. does Bethesda think that everyone interested in Skyrim has a 200gb hard drive? it cant be my fault for not knowing that the game needed a hard drive with atleast 10gbs free of space.

A 4 GB hard drive is unbelievably small. I don't see how this is unacceptable from Bethesda since most people have atleast a 20 gig hard drive, way back from when the 360 just came out.
But I can obviously understand the anger.

Also, keep in mind that that is what I heard, not too sure if it is true or not. But the problems you are having are quite severe, and I'm not too sure about what could cause your game to run that poorly.

Most interesting is why they make a game with is working only on consoles with 60gb+ or newer  If you make a game I think you must make it sa that all customer can play it, or don't realise it at all!
And yes Skyrim is the most buggy game released by Beasda ever! it all began with Fallout 3 then Fallout NV and now skyrim,sa for those who want have a gameplay without bugs start playng Oblivion!
I have all those games since release so don't try say otherwise. And I really disappointed! :swear:

Rage thread? lol

Nah, i love Skyrim... hate Bethesda. I seriously think Bethesda studios should do the planning and art part only (which is awesome as it is), and leave the code programming to the pros, because they svcks on it ;)

I've been experiencing a lot of freezing since the last patch personally. I'm considering playing patch free.

I got an arcade version of the first xbox that came out(its probably been upgraded since I sent it back 2-3 times because of red rings of death). Skyrim has froze maybe like... 3 or 4 times(when I first got it)....and everytime its froze I find its because I'm doing things too fast. For example if I'm going in the menu, and its autosaving and I try to open a section in the menu(its froze like that once). Or if i'm going in and out of a zone quickly.

As soon as I think its gonna freeze(like gameplay gets choppy, my commands are lagging) I just stop and let it do whatever its doing. And I feel like it prevents it from freezing, since I started doing this little technique of just stopping everything I'm doing, it hasn't froze since.
