Should I start a new character for Dawnguard or continue min

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 3:13 pm

I have 2 main characters right now, a Level 54 Breton Warrior Werewolf joining Dawnguard, and a Level 52 Mage/Warrior Dunmer joining the Vampire clan.

Now I just have 3 questions:

1. Since they are both pretty high leveled, and with the new skill trees coming out, will I be able to get the new skills easily?

2. Will the new enemies scale to my level or be too easy to kill? I dont want to encounter my first gargoyle and be like "OH [censored] THIS LOOKS HARD" and it dies in one hit.

3. Will equipment and special weapons/armor I find scale in according to the level I was at when I obtained them? If I do make a new character and start off playing Dawnguard and come across an amazing unique sword with an awesome enchantment, I dont want it to become useless because I found it when I was level 15, this was one of the problems in Oblivion.

I mean, I'd gladly make a new character, but these 2 characters have so much time put into them, And I've beat the main quest about 7 times now, I really dont feel like doing all of that over.

You can forge to improve weapons and armor but they stay the same regardless of level. For example nightingale blade is same for level 2 as for level 20 but a flawless blade is better for that reason and you have to be level 10 to start dawnguard

You can still use your high-level characters for the new perk trees. You get perk points for the new trees by feeding as vampire/werewolf.

Really? I could of swore it had a stronger enchantment if you obtained it at a higher level...

Woah really? I didn't know this, thanks for that info! I thought it would use the perk points you get from leveling up.

So the enchantments level up regardless of what level you obtained the weapon?

Cause the UESP has a chart with stronger versions of the enchantment the higher your level.

Just gotta snack on people's necks and drain them of blood as a Vampire to level up the vampire skill tree..which will be easy since you don't have to sneak around to feed anymore, you can feed on any awake humanoid enemy or villager when Dawnguard comes out (quite a few different killing animations from what I hear/read that involve feeding for both normal vampire form and Vampire lord form)...pretty sure it outright kills them rather than leaving them alive like feeding as they sleep does and Werewolves gotta eat Hearts..or so it says to level up the werewolf skill tree.

Okay thank you, that sounds so much more reasonable, I was afraid I'd have to level up 20 more times to max out the Lycan/Vampire trees.

Actually, you have to kill them although feeding might also level the Vampire/Lycan perks up (just a theory mind you). Proof? Watch the E3 interviews w/ G4TV & Gamespot. But yes, you will be able to get them rather easily even if you are level 81 although I'm more than positive that they'll be harder to level up as you kill more people. Hopefully raiding all of the bandit hideouts will max them out as I personally hate killing innocent people.

Awww..so feeding on a sleeping person won't level up the skill tree?

Oh well, gotta drain an awake humanoid enemy/villager dry of blood, I suppose.

Its for the greater good...it helps the dragonborn. =D

It might level the perk trees up, that hasn't been confirmed though.

I have the same problem, so i'm going in with very low level gear.
Fur armor and Elven weapons FTW!
