Didn't absorbed a dragon soul after a kill

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 8:58 pm

I encountered another dragon right after "A blade in the dark" quest. It was in about 2 minutes walking distance from when I completed that quest and it was a blood dragon as I remember.
I didn't absorbed its soul. Not only that the soul didn't appeared in my shouts tab to use but there was no animation either for it.
I have 1.3 update. Is this still common issue? It could have been related with the quest I mentioned? If is a bug should I just overlook it and everything should be fine even if this issue may still appear from time to time? I'd be ok with that, just need to know that once triggered it won't be the case for every dragon from now on...

Wrong forum mate, but regardless I had this happen to me once. If you have a PC you can fix it by opening the console and typing player.forceav dragonsouls #numberyouhave +1 if not, sorry man better luck next.

If I remember correctly, this is part of a bug to do with dragon respawns. Let's say you get attacked by a dragon from the dragon mound on the road to Rorikstead, and you defeat it. You collect the soul from it and go on your way. Next time you come to fight a dragon from this spawn point, it will not have a soul to collect. This is something a lot of people have mentioned, and I think most of them are annoyed by it.

This is something that kind of annoys me a little. I'm a console user, and usually the first 'solution' people come up with is a console window. This isn't me being jealous, as has been suggested, just voicing my annoyance at the fact that PC users seem to think they're the only people playing the game.

Using the console is most often the quickest and easiest way to fix an issue, and since the OP didn't mention his platform, not posting the easist solution would be silly.

It happens. Just type "player.modav dragonsouls 1" into the console.

Reading your original post again, you didn't assume that everyone plays on PC, so my comment was premature.

This one, however, does assume everyone plays on PC; which does annoy me. I know it's not something that's going to change, so I'm just going to have to live with it, in the end. Doesn't hurt to make yourself heard, sometimes, though.

This is definitely one thing Bethesda will have to patch (back on topic, btw), because as it stands there's no accurate way to track our dragon kills, only souls collected.

Thanks for answers. I'm on PC forgot to mention that but I don't feel like using the console commands. I guess if this won't always happen from now after it occurred once I can be fine with it.

It is kind of a minor issue (in a way). You will eventually have extra souls after getting all the words of power anyways. Now if you don't get the soul from ANY dragon, you have a problem.

I've had this issue since the first update, so it's nothing to do with the 1.3 one.

It doesn't matter if the OP is on console or PC. I is a general question and some PC users (I know at least one) will find the tip useful so they don't have to ask again mentionning they are on PC or console in the title.

And the respawning explaination was satisfying too. Indeed it happened with respawning dragons. I got the task to kill the dragon at the same place several times and only the first one had a soul to absorb. Then it is not a bug....
Bu it is good to understand. We think too easily everything is bugged when we don't understand

It's not a bug, it's supposed to work that way with respawning dragons.
