Do all the houses have bugs?

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:39 pm

I'm on 360, not sure what patch I'm on since I haven't actually connected to the interwebs with it.

My Solitude home which I loved had a terrible problem with items ending up on the floor, or disappearing entirely. I wanted to get a home that's not bugged, but the others just don't suit me as well. But I had also read somewhere that other houses might be bugged as well.

What homes are bugged, and have any of them been fixed in recent patches?

I had no problems with Breezehome. I think the "crap falling on the floor" problem exists with all of them, though.

From what I have experienced, Breezehome is a little but pretty bug-free house, despite the fact that you can't "decorate" placing stuff here and there without fear of them disappearing because of some weird physics.

Breezehome has never been bugged and it has plenty of storage.

I find Breezehome in Whiterun to have more than enough space for me to store my stuff.

I've heard of bugs from every house but have only experienced moving manicans, weapons falling off racks or not placing correctly, the bed in the wind helm house 10 feet away from the wall-_-, and the decorative objects flying all over. But quick fixes for that exist.

The problem with items not staying where you put them is in every house. When you drop something, no matter where you put it the item will go back to where you dropped it when you re-enter the house.

To avoid this just drop the items you want to decorate your house with, leave, than come back. Everything that is not flagged as stolen will stay where you put them now.

There is some other workarounds on the UESP http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses, if this doesn't work. Just go to the bug section at the bottom of the page.

I'm tempted, but I'm scared to lose valuable items. I heard they also use to clip through walls the more you enter your house.

They don't reappear where I dropped them, for me they just randomly burst out of where I placed them. I gave up on decorating my house, but I don't care much since I don't visit too often anyway.

I've never had that problem. I actually have one of those black metal pots full of skulls and they didn't disappear or clip through the wall or anything.

I was very surprised they didn't just explode when I entered my house and just scatter everywhere.

Everything I placed down that way (except for stolen items as I have stated) have stayed literally exactly where I left them. Haven't moved an inch.

Well, every building has minor cracks and faults that the little guys can crawl through...

Oh wait; wrong bugs. In that case, I'm not sure; the only bugs I've had were the Poltergeist bug in Breezehome and a Statue of Dibella misteriously vanishing from my home in Solitude.

Hmm, my Statue of Dibella disappeared from my house in Solitude before doing the above workaround too. Odd.

I don't know what the first bug is you're talking about is, but I've had my mannequins in Honneyside start looking around like NPCs. It was hilariously odd.

Well, the first one I was talking about was placed items going flying shortly after I placed them. :P As if the home had a Poltergeist.

For me, the weapon rack and the weapon plaque don't work. And there's suppose to be more than one weapon plaque, but not in my Breezehome, despite all upgrades.

LOL. I read the title thinking I was going to need to head to the local trader for cans of Raid. :D

By the way: Breezehome does have bugs, too. Everything in my house, that was on the left side of the house, is now on the floor. Dawnbreaker is forever attached to the weapon plaque above the front door. When I try to remove it, I hear the click of the A button despite the message stating "Take".

I've just decided to clear out all my houses of stuff and sell it all.

Now, here's the kicker: the barrel just outside of Warmaiden's has been my storage container. Everything I drop in it has stayed in it. That's where I keep my ingots, ores, and leathers. Everything else is turned to gold (coin).

There are two....one at the top of the stairs above the dresser and one above the front door as you're leaving the house. Took me a while to see the one above the door.

I just experienced the legendary wandering mannequins of honeyside yesterday. Has to laugh. At some point I intend to pile as much stuff as possible onto the table in breezehome, leave and then re-enter. :D

  I think I'll have to check above the door next time!
Come to think of it, I know have the one above the stairs. It doesn't work, either.

Bugs? Well sometimes I hear some crunching upstairs, but I don't think it has to do with bugs...
