Dawnguard Download Question

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 1:12 pm

So, I was just wondering something about Dawnguard. We have two 360s in our home, and hte wireless connection on the second isn't very good. Could I download Dawnguard on Tuesday on the one with the good connection, copy the DLC to a thumb drive and move that over to the other 360? Or would that not work?

I Believe when you download DLC on an xbox it is tied to that specific gamertag or something and cant be transferred.

gotta buy it twice on different accounts. If same account sure, but you can't be logged in twice.

it would not work since the downloaded content is tied to both your xbox and your profile. HOWEVER! if you use the same profile for both xboxes you can transfere and play the downloaded content but only if you are connected to xbox live... while i am writing this I start to wonder: why dont you just play on the one with good connection?

No, I was asking if I could download it on one console on my account that I have the MS Points for it on and transfer it to the other with a thumb drive and play it on my accoutn there. And I don't play on the one with the good connection because it's on a 12 inch non-HD TV, and said Xbox is also in my sisters room. The other is in my room.

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to deal with the connection on the 360 in my room.

Swap the hardrives or recover the gamertag on the xbox you want to play on.

Some people here are wrong. Dlc is not playable exclusively by one GT, but to the Xbox on which it was downloaded. However, if you want to redownload it or transfer the license, that must be done through the purchasing account.

If you transfer it via USB, you will then need to transfer the license, which does require an Internet connection iirc.

here is how downloading works

when you download something onto your 360 it gets tied to both the 360(1) and the gamertag(2) that was used to download it.

if you are playing on the 360(1) on a seperate gamertag(3) you will be fine, as you are playing on the original 360(1)

if you are playing on another 360(4) on the original gamertag(2) you will be fine, as you are playing on the original gamertag(2)

if you are playing on another 360(4) on another gamertag(3) you will be unable to play it, as you are on niether the original 360(1) or gamertag(2).

hope that clears it up

This.

Any download off of the LIVE marketplace is tied to that GamerTag. It can not be transferred between Xbox's. Themes and such are useable between different profiles, but only profiles on the same Xbox. Downloaded game content is useable only by the GT that originally downloaded it.

Yes, but you would also need to move your profile with it. Or vise versa, put profile on xbox downloading it, put profile and Dawnguard on thumbdrive, transfer to main console.

It would just be better to buy two copies, one for each Xbox...

I have the same GamerTag on both consoles, so that isn't a problem. I was just wondering if I could download Dawnguard on the Xbox with the better internet connection and transfer it to the other Xbox via thumb drive.

I might just disconnect the Xbox by the router and hook up the Xbox in the room that I intend to play on there and download Dawnguard that way.
