What is happening here?

Could someone please look at the above link and tell me why some of my mods are red? What is wrong? How do I fixorz this? Thanks.

I haven't tried playing the game yet since it's been over a month since I've played and I was just updating my mods. But no matter where I move the red mods in the list they stay red. Obviously I've got a load order issue but not sure how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should post in the Bash thread...

There's a bash thread?

Will look now. Thanks

*EDIT*

I've reported this thread to a mod. I asked if this thread can be merged with the bash thread. Thanks.

A red checkbox in Wrye Bash indicates a missing master, i.e. an esm/esp file the mod depends on is not present in the Data directory. I can't see your entire load order from the pic, but it would appear your Update.esm is missing. You should look into that ;)

Ok, so how do I fix that? I have no idea what happened. I know hte last time I was playing I got an error saying that one of my save games was corrupted (Autosave1.ess) but considering that was from the very beginning of the game I don't care. Although, when I go into the saved games list in Wrye they are all red. There's around 500 saved games. So maybe my game is fubared.

Just like in the mod list, a red checkbox next to a save indicates that save is missing a master, i.e. it was made with an esm/esp active that is no longer present in your Data directory. Update.esm going missing is pretty weird though. Go check if it's really gone from your Data directory. If it is, I'd try repairing or redownloading the game via Steam.

Well, it would seem that all 500 saves are missing something since they are all red. When I try to load my game it just crashes at the loading screen.

My Update.esm is in my data folder.

WTH?

Here is the list of my saved games. I'm reinstalling Skyrim now.

Guess next step is I delete all the saved games and start over. Oh well, guess I can do Dawnguard on a fresh char. Too bad too, he was level 45...

Are you crashing when you try to load a save or when you try to launch the game? Crashing after the Bethesda logo is a classic sign of a missing master.
So your Update.esm is present after all? It would seem as though Wrye Bash can't find it then. It also looks like it's not activated, which would cause all your missing master problems. Try launching the game through the launcher, click on Data Files and see if you can locate and activate Update.esm there. If Wrye Bash really can't see Update.esm even though it's there, you should report this in the Bash thread.

edit: You can right click on a save and select "Diff Masters" to see what masters are missing for that save.

I'll have to try that after I reinstall it. I just deleted everything. It'll finish installing probably around tomorrow morning. I have the worlds slowest high-speed connection ever.

Which version of Bash are you using? I believe Update.esm being missing is a bug in 297, so update to 298

I just updated Wrye Bash to the latest version today. It was doing it before I updated too.

To answer the question about crashing, I can get to the main menu and that's it. If I click continue it crashes.

Well, too late no, but red saves means that a master file they were played with is missing (AFAIK), and the game crashed at the main menu for the same reason, a missing master. If it was Update.esm just having Steam verify your files should have fix it. And yes, there was some issue with 1.6 Update.esm and WB 297.

This is the reality mod use, i rage viped all Skyrim folders clear earlier today due to constant crashing and freezing, and now am running with minimal mods :hehe:

Actually the issue was with 295.5 and Update.esm. That issue was fixed in 296, but either way, 298 is the current release.

I'm still waiting for it to finishing reinstallation. Then I'll try it again. Worst case, I guess I'll just uninstall all my mods and try again. :)

YAY!! I reinstalled Bash and my Update.esm is now showing up. But it's still showing me that about 25 saved games are corrupt. Which thankfully does not include the most recent 40 or so saves so it doesn't look like I need to delete all of my saved games. Maybe just the corrupted ones.

And this folks, is the exact reason why you should always keep multiple saves of your game.
